Alisha, prick one of your stretch marks with a single needle and you will see. The single needle method is successfully used on raised burn scars as far as I know.
I used mine on a very old, slightly raised scar caused by vaccination. I wanted to improve the color. The color improved only a little but it softened and flattened the scar. I am not bothered by that scar at all, it was just an experiment. |

I'm a 21 year old girl. Yesterday I rolled for the first time with my 1.0 Dr. Roller. I rolled on my thighs, buttocks, and hips. Today my hips are red especially the actual stretch marks. Is this normal? I assume it is just part of the process and the redness will go away soon.
I recieved only a vitamin cream with my dermaroller. Should I be using something else?
I'm very interested in your story CassieZ. I haven't heard about single needling. I'm really want to improve the marks on my hips and thighs. Do you have any advice for someone who has one treatment behind them? Thanks so much.

I took a closer look at my owndoc roller and the needles seemed to be the same length. However one needle looks bent at the very tip. Almost like a curved tip. Should I worry about this, being that it is only one little needle?
Also, when I single-needled my boob stretch marks they turned really puffy and raised. Days later they are still raised. Is this a bad sign of bad healing? I have pics on my blog that show what Im describing. |

Hey there!
Here's my story: I'm 22 years old, I have olive skin, and I have white, shiny stretchmarks on my calves... (Had them since I was 12)
Anyway I started dermarolling somewhere around July of last year. I rolled maybe every month or so. I got slight improvement. Then at around November I started single needling. All that is instead of rolling over a large area of skin you prick the stretch mark itself repeatedly, so the pricks are much more dense and focused on the mark. TOOK FOREVER, lol. And it was hard since I had to maneuver around to reach the back of my knees. Anyway I didn't really "see" visible results until maybe 2 months after my first single needling session. (I needle once a month so after 2 needling sessions I saw improvement)
Right now I'd say my stretchmarks are definitely 90% better than when I first started. They're still there, but I'm pretty confident that with a few more sessions they'll eventually fade even more.
My one biggest advice I guess is BE PATIENT. It took me about 6 months of rolling before I saw visible improvement. But when the improvement came, it's undeniable. OH and definitely try single needling for the stretchmarks. It takes a lot more time and effort but its' worth it. My results came faster when single needling than when I rolled. (ps. I still roll...maybe once every two months.. I really don't have a strict regimen, lol, I just roll when I have time and I feel like it, and when I feel like enough time has elapsed since my last session.) My one rule is that I'm pretty aggressive when I single needle. I prick my marks really densely. But I give it time to heal before I needle again. Like 4-6 weeks, sometimes longer. Personally I really think the aggressive single needling is what brought my results. Good luck! |

My stretchmarks were raised and red after my single-needling sessions. So yes, I would say that's normal. When it's raised it's an inflammatory reaction to the pricks, which is what you want it to do from what I understand.
Anyway, mine always healed ok (after about a week or so, they're not red or raised anymore). |

The answer to this is yes. Do not use the roller and contact Owndoc and they will send you a replacement (which you should also check).
Any device that involves puncturing the skin should be in perfect working order. |

Thanks Cassie.I'll definately try the single needlings. Did you buy the kit from owndoc? Did you feel owndoc made a good product? What kind of creams do you put on your skin afterwards and in between sessions? I feel so much better hearing from other people in the same posistion. |

Yeah I just used the ones from own doc. They have a cream that comes with the kit and I just used that. In between sessions I'm not as astute about using creams (I should though). I pretty much just put lotion on when I feel like it in between sessions. No special regimen or anything. I'm pretty satisfied so far with own doc. Fairly cheap too, compared to other derma roller sites.
Good luck! Remember to be patient! For me my trick was I needle, then I don't even LOOK at it until my next session. That way you really see the difference from month to month. |

I feel crazy now, I double checked my roller and now I can't find the bent needle. I made my sister look and she can't find it either. Maybe it was just the angle I looked at it that made it look bent. I'm just correcting my mistake for those that are looking to buy from owndoc. |

Hey All New here, but read this thread with interest. For perspective, the skin repair I am mostly interested in is Stretch marks (got heaps blah) but also face scarring, acne marks etc. I have been rolling for about 3 months now, with no great noticable improvements, but will continue for approx a year before I decide if it's worth keeping it up. It hurts a bit (as you all know) so really, the gain has got to be worth the pain, in the end, for me to keep going. We shall see
What I DO want to talk up though, is single needling, for both SM's and face scaring. I've been single needling for the same amount of time (about 3 months) and there is a definite improvement in stretchies and acne scaring, pretty much noticable after the first 'healing'. It's certainly encouraging, to say the least. The most obvious improvement on the stretch marks is their colour. They are no longer silvery shiny, more beige (closer to norm skin colour) and matte. This obviously makes a big difference, especially under lighting, because i think it's that silver colour that makes them kind of 'glare' out at you. For the face scaring (acne scars) less needling is required, but again there is noticable improvements already. The scars are shallower and smaller.
So I would honestly recommend single needling to anyone, much more so then dermarolling. It doesn't hurt and it's effective in that it only targets the problem area. It IS time consuming though, exceptionally so, but if you've got the time and the inclination i'd say it's well worth it!
I don't aggressively needle these scars either (I should though, it depends on the amount of time you have really) and the results are still fantastic. In fact, seeing such good results already encourages me to spend more focused time on my needling as it would almost defintiely be worth it!
Just wanted to add this info to your thread ladies... Stretch marks SUCK ;P xx |

But that needle is only 43 mm long in total. How can we hold it if it is so short? |

Jezebel17 I looked at your blog and you have such a beautiful body that I envy you
Your only "flaw" is some stretch marks.
I have so many other flaws apart from stretch marks that I would be really happy having your body and I would not even care about stretch marks.
Boys must be mad about you.. |

I got my single needles from an online site - Sarah Vaughter Wellness.
(tried to post the link but not allowed as I'm a newbie sorry!)
The needles are sent with a dermaroller purchase and are perfect, they're 0.25mm needles and have a handle around 15 cm long. They're easy to hold and use. She says you can't get these needles anywhere else online, as they've been made especially, but surely there would have to be somewhere that sells something like this? I hope so as I think I will be needing more needles before I need a new dermaroller I think! |

Thank you Marta, im sure you have beutiful body. I have more flaws than the pictures trust me. I know that stretch marks are just skin problems but you know how those little suckers can ruin everything. They make me so self conscience, and I know people will stare if I was to show my body at the gym or beach.
I'm so happy with my progress so far with single needling. I also see an improvement on my boobs after just 1 treatment. I know it might be temporary but the silver is gone and now they blend in much more to the skin. I will post new pics in my blog. |

Jezebel17 - I just checked out your blog and I totally agree with Marta. You are in great shape. After reading a few of the more current posts on this forum and then seeing your blog, I went ahead and purchased the derma rolling kit from owndoc. I have the exact same stretch marked bottom (since I was 13yr old), but after giving birth to a baby in 2003 I have them on my breast, back of calves, and surrouding abdomen and hip area. Trust me I know what you mean about not being able to wear a bikini on the beach. You gave me some hope again Jezebel17 and looks like we're on the same mission here I'll keep you updated on my progress and maybe even start a blog like you, lol. |

Hi everybody
I Received my roller from owndoc yesterday ,i was not counting on anything less than 2 weeks but i received it only after 8 days !
I rolled my inner and lower arm (only left arm) last night.
By looking at the roller( 1.5 mm)like everyone i thought it won't be painful at all but while rolling i realized that i was wrong , it was really painful(specially where skin is thinner)but nothing unbearable and also i did not use any numbing cream or Ice pack
I did not get any blood at all maybe because i rolled very softly since it was my first time but my stretch marks are raised( not so much) and very much less visible than before rolling,
Right after rolling i washed the rolled area and applied Retin A and today morning i Applied Vit C serum ,
I am going to roll my right arm tonight only ,
and then wait till 4 to 6 weeks ,
I also got the 0.02 mm roller by which according Sarah(owndoc) i can roll in between the sessions for skin care products ( Vit C & Retin A ) absorption , is anyone doing the same ?
by the way , before using the roller i checked it (not very thoroughly) but yes , needles are not even in length , some are obviously shorter ,
This is my first roller and have no idea about other brands but by looking at this one i can say that it is not a very high quality manufactured roller,
But i am so very happy with their customer service and responsiveness ,
I just thought to share my first rolling experience with you guys ,
Wish we all get rid of SMs

the improvement i seemed to have been having from my first round of single needling looks like its disappearing. I know this was probably just inflamation but it made me hopeful.
to anyone who has been single needling for a few months: will the results stay after a few rounds of needling/rolling? |

I have a stupid question...
How deep should I go when I single-needle?
I've read that it should be approximately 2mm...
But it seems that some people here are going beyond 2mm...
Just asking :P |

I believe the tip (the actual needle, not the 'handle/shaft') of the single needle is only 2mm long, so it wouldn't be possible to go any deeper than 2mm. |

May be mine is a different needle...
I have to use a toothpick to stop it from penetrating to the full 6mm.
Anyway, I just finished my first needling session few days ago, and now I have bruises here and there on the needled area...Has anyone experienced this kind of bruising before? |
