| Have you tried any mineral primer and finishing powder? Silk powder is a good oil controlling powder too. Usually I found my T-zone is oily in the afternoon. But one blotting paper is enough if I put primer before mineral foundation--either mineral or non-mineral primer will do. I think that's OK for me. |

| All mineral makeup is "glowy" so if you have oily skin, do you want more glow?? THe less you have on your skin the better. Especially in the summer. Powders over oily skin may end up looking like mud. If you still choose to wear it, than just blot with one of those soft sponges and DON'T whatever you do, apply more powder. |

No, all mineral makeup is not glowy. I wonder where you got that impression? There are many brands that boast (and deliver) matte finishes.
I have had skin so oily, Exxon/Mobile was making me offers. And yet, I've worn mineral makeup for decades. Now, at 53, my skin is normal. I wear mineral makeup somedays. Somedays liquid. Somedays none.
There are many great MMU companies. It is VERY subjective and you should just keep trying till you find your brand. That's what the samples are for. However, you will be most pleased, I bet, with those that have Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide before Mica in the ingredients list. Be aware Kaolin Clay is absorbing (good), too. More so than either rice powder or silk or pearl powders. Calcium carbonate is very absorbing, too. Also called "marble dust," it is chalk. Magnesium Stearate and Boron Nitride are additives that may irritate your skin, but they add great "slip" to the mix. And avoid Bismuth Oxychloride, which is the Bare Escentuals glow. It's best to just avoid it in all products. Mica can be either glowy or matte. Serecite is Mica. And Silica absorbs.
Do your research, then find the ingredient list that has what you want. You probably do not want Vitamin E, like some have.
My favorite minerals, personally, were made by two companies, both of which went out of business -- for personal reasons, not because of the product. Now, I would recommend Jenulence Minerals (around a looong time, and great balance of ingredients for oily skin. And wears like iron. Really. Not trendy at all. Just Great Stuff.) And Monistat Anti Chafing gel as primer -- very little is needed.
I've experimented and tried dozens of brands over the years, just out of curiosity. All mineral makeup is NOT created equal. By a long shot. And it's not all "glowy." Coverage, finish, color ranges, and endurance vary a great deal. |

I keep repeating myself
Miessense Certified Organic Mineral Powder foundation (contains ONLY mice, zinc oxide and Rose otto EO) It's wonderful, and even though I have combination skin - I workout in it, I sweat in it, it looks glowing and natural, and the best part is you don't even feel you are wearing it

Mice???
Yikes!
Sorry couldn't resist that, know it was just a wee mistake!
This stuff looks nice I think I'll order a couple of samples. I still haven't found a mineral make up that works for my skin but as most of them do testers it's cheap enough to try various brands.
Do you all think it's important to get the right kabuki brush to apply the mineral make up with? |

Thank you for that info. I have only tried Bare Escentuals foundation. And I have a very oily skin after about six hours after cleansing routine. I Just added more Mineral Veil over the face during the day, but it doesn't feel fresh at all.
The hard thing is to find the right colour, when purchased online.
The primer, I've never used one, doesn't clog pores? |

| I think alima is pretty good. I use zinz oxide sunscreen underneath and add 3 layer of MMU on top of it - primer, foundation and finishing powder. It keeps me free of oil for 4 hours, which already is the king of all my foundations. |

| Have you tried Amazing cosmetics? The powder works very well for my skin during summer, when my skin becomes oily. |

| do you think it is the actual MMU or is it the moisturizer you are using underneath? MMU needs moisturizer so that it will adhere to the skin. I had difficulty wearing MMU because I had trouble finding a moisturizer to wear underneath that didn't make me look and feel super greasy. I finally found a moisturizer that I could wear under MMU that stayed more matte looking. It is the Eucerin sunscreen one. It has a very light feel to it. As far as MMU, I have used Bare Escentuals, Jane Iredale, and Mineral Fusion. Out of those three I like the Mineral Fusion the best. It can be purchased at Whole Foods. |

I am so glad you liked them. Dont forget to sign up for the birthday club. I had a referral code you could have used but I dont think you can use it now as it has to be for your first order. I found it worked great when I was in Arizona which makes sense as the company is from Arizona. It stood up to heat very well. |

| If anyone is looking for a good oil-control lotion to use under MMU, I would totally recommend trying Korres' Materia Herba Oil-Control moisturizer. This stuff is AWESOME-- it makes my skin very soft and yet still keeps it from getting too oily. It wears beautifully under MMU. (PS: I'm an Alima fan, but it *does* have some mica in it. In the summer time I love Lumiere's Veena Velvet because it's totally matte and helps my skin stay looking fresh, not melted.) |

I know I am a little late for this topic, but I figured I would share anyway.
I started using mineral makeup about 6 months ago so I used it when my skin was really dry in the winter and now slightly oily in the summer (it is 25-30 C where I live). I should also point out that my skin is combo with only an oily T-zone in the summer and I have fairly sensetive skin.
I have been using ColorRevolution powder. I got it from Costco in a pack for under $30 that included 2 powders (light and tan), 3 eyeshadow colours and one blush.
Anyway, if your samples don't perform for you something to try... |

Right now I like Neutrogena sheer minerals(the compact) with cover girl true blend minerals mineral veil over it. Haven't had any problems with oiliness using these but we'll see once the eweather gets more hot and humid.
None of the more expensive "name brand" minerals have worked for me. |
