I've been testing some of Nanci's sunscreen products and this is the best by far. It is TOTALLY clear, is creamy smooth and fast absorbing, and has a very pleasant mild coconut "at the beach" fragrance.
It is concentrated, and so is very economical. I use it alone, mix it with foundation for a moisturizing tinted sunscreen, and with body lotions for extra protection. Actual SPF rating coming soon!
A truly wonderful alternative to chemical sunscreens. AND a big plus, you get to do business with Nanci, who is the nicest person in the world. NCN Professional Skincare ROCKS!! |

I've been wondering about this one.. YAY... I've been using her I'm Covered and love it...
So, is this one pretty clear? Also, does it separate at all? Which isn't really a big deal. But I'm wondering.
Any chance you tried any of her other new products? Like the Sea Kelp Soap? Or the Silk Make Up? I want to try that!!!!
You're right. Nanci is a doll. She's always so nice. |

Thanks for the info Margot! This same sunblock was just being discussed over here http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?tid=33865 too. It was mentioned that Nanci said it was on the rich side--do you have a sense of whether it might be pore-clogging for combo or oily skin? Or does it feel very greasy? I'm glad to hear it sinks in well!
Last question, when you mixed it with your regular moisturizer did you still feel like you got good coverage? (Perhaps I should just ask what ratio you mixed it at?) Thanks for this review! |

Claudia, yes I agree Nanci is such a sweetie that I love to give her my business. I have used the Sea Kelp Soap and love it - it has a spicy clove-like aroma which is nice. It leaves my skin feeling pure and fresh and cared-for. I just use in on my body, not my face. |

Thanks Fawnie... I ordered the soap, and some samples.
Do you use the Rhassoul bar on your face? I LOVE that bar. I use it with my clarisonic. And you just can't beat the price! |

ClaudiaFE, it is TOTALLY clear and doesn't separate at all. I switched over from her "I'm Covered" which I love in the winter, but looks a bit whitish on me in the summer.
I also get her Rhassoul Clay bar, which I love so much I want to eat it. Haven't tried the Sea Kelp one, but I'm sure I will!
The "All Natural" is on the rich side, but I have super dry skin, and it does sink and then just leaves my skin feeling very soft and smooth.
When I mix it with foundation, I use about two parts foundation to one part sunscreen. So it does decrease the opacity, or covering power of foundation, but I like more of a tinted moisturizer in the summer. Sometimes I'll pat on a bit more concealer on areas that need more coverage.
Sorry all, I didn't see the previous post on this product, my bad! |

KBLang, my sense is that it might be a little rich for oily skin. I also use it sometimes diluted with my oil free moisturizer, and then use the All Natural on my cheeks only, which give them a nice dewy finish.
I've long since been a fan of oil based cleansers, like the one Shu Uemura makes or the Bobbi Brown Balm Cleanser, which remove all residue of sunscreens which can be on the heavy side. HTH! |

Thanks for the info, Margot--I might see about getting a sample to see if my skin would find it too rich or not. Sounds great though! |

Oh dear..... as soon as I settle into my HG sunscreen, now you're making me wanna try another one.... I do like NCNskincare.... maybe I'll try a sample of this to mix in with NCN liquid mineral makeup for the double boost of protection on top of my NIA24 sunscreen. |

I just placed my first order from NCN, and Nanci's sending me a sample to try. I have combo skin, so I'll let you know how it is. My husband has dry skin, and she thought it might be more suited to him. Though she did say this in the email: "I have normal skin with an oily t-zone this time of the year and I wear it. But I let it soak in for a good 10 min. before I apply my makeup."
Great CS, FYI--just as everyone said! |

I don't have oily skin, but I don't want something too rich in hot weather. I'm actually really happy with pratima right now, but I'm still curious about the zinclear. Let me know how you like it!

Ok... I rec'd my sample, and have tried with a few things...
I will ABSOLUTELY REORDER Nanci's newest sunscreen.
It does add a bit of moisture to the face, if you battle oily skin (shine all day), then you probably won't want it. I guess I'd say my skin pushes oily. But I would really just consider it "normal".
I've used this ALL ALONE. Worked great. NO redness or any new color to my face.
I've used this with my Bare Minerals. Not my favorite combo. I do think it accentuated pores a bit, by grabbing the powder on the surface. Pores looked wider/deeper than they are. Perhaps if I had allowed it to dry longer. But that's not particularly my style. Or perhaps if my skin was a little dryer in nature? Not really sure!
I've used it with my liquid make up... FLAWLESS!
And the biggest seller for me... I spent the worst 4 hours possible in the sun at a California Beach on a sunny day! NO COLOR/BURN... NOTHING... those hours being from 10am until 2 pm. |

Thanks for such a detailed review! What liquid foundation did you use over this sunscreen? I'm wondering if it would combined well with her liquid mineral makeup.
Do you know if one can get samples of the NCN liquid MMU, too? |

I used an arbonne liquid makeup. HOWEVER, I do have a sample of NCN liquid minerals... I'm happy to try and report! (This has great coverage as well... and I really liked her make up too. I've tried the firming liquid - nice, separates in the bottle a bit, but easily mixed, and the sheer tint, which I happen to like the consistency a bit better. Truly liked them both, I now have a sample of the powder mmu she offers, but have not tried yet!)
Yes, I believe you can get samples of both the sunscreen and the mmu...
Here is the link to the product... listing ingredients... http://www.ncnproskincare.com/skin-care-products/sun-protection/zinclear-all-natural-sun-protection.html
Oh... and it does go on pretty clear. The product stays together (mixed well) so far as I can tell. I use about a pea size for my face, a bit more to cover my neck and chest.
If you think your face might be too oily, get a sample. Worth the try!!! |

Thanks for the review (and the California sun testing!), Claudia. I thought I'd chime in since I've been using my sample from Nanci for about a week now too--I've also been really pleased! Like Claudia, my skin leans toward oily, and Nanci said that it might not work with my skin type. But I was really pleasantly surprised by it's texture! Much smoother in consistency than Keys, but also not runny (like UV Natural) and no separation issues. It does leave a bit of shine, but nothing tragic. And it seems to sink in well after 10 minutes or so--I would put it on, then eat breakfast, then apply makeup.
Based on the other all-mineral sunscreens that I've tried, this one actually seems lighter on the scale despite it being described as for drier skin. Really, after the sludge of Badger and such, this is so much more like a normal lotion. It's not quite as light as Devita, but definitely nothing like Keys or Soleo. And so far it doesn't seem to be breaking me out... (hooray!)
Most importantly, I found it to be entirely clear, which is really impressive given the zinc %. Sounds like it's pretty long-lasting too. My husband (who has drier skin) said that he noticed the slightest white residue on the inside of his glasses frames (like where they touch his eyebrows and nose); I can't vouch for how he rubs it in though... I personally haven't seen any residue, and there's no need to even rub it in to make it that way (as with Keys, which even then has that hint of white). No breakout issues for hubby either, but he's very devoted to his Devita.
I haven't tried the Pratima, but this seems like a nice summer option for extra coverage when I don't feel like looking like a ghost (ghost is fine when I'm exercising). I won't give up my Devita, but here's to having more options!! |

LOL... Re the Beach... We went to a birthday party at the beach for some 4 y/o twin friends... it was twins everywhere! I was literally on the wet sand almost the whole time make sure my boys didn't manage to get sucked out to sea! I was really blown away that I had NO COLOR or redness! I'm still opaque! |

25% zinc = what SPF? Is this completely physical sunscreen? |

I believe that Nanci has submitted for an SPF rating. I have no idea what's involved. But understand it can by $$ and lots of paperwork.
That said, THIS IS MY GUESS!!! her site says that it blocks 97% of the rays... in reading other articles... 97% tends to be associated with an SPF 30. AGAIN... this is my guess. NOT a fact that I'm quoting.
I do understand this combo to be a physical block. Personally my favorite. Although the chemical blocks are seemingly just as good, I find that my face burns with products that have a higher SPF... strange. |

Me, too! I never thought my skin to be sensitive, but I recognized the burn sensation you mentioned, and I like to use really high SPF because psychologically it feels like I'm better protected. |

Hi Athena123
Is it possible to boast protection by mixing sunscreen with other products? I thought once mixed the SPF was reduced. |

SO glad to hear y'all are liking this product! Yes, Nanci is working to get an SPF rating so people will know "exactly what they're getting." She's just the gold standard for the perfect customer experience, not to mention perfect products.
In these times, I can't emphasize how much $$ I've saved by not buying overpriced dept store skincare and getting her comparable (if not superior) ones! |
