I have been using Retin A by itself or with my Obagi Blender. At times, I use it with SuperCop as well. During my last order with AllDayChemist, I decided to also purchase the .1% Tazoratene Creme (in addition to my several orders of .5% Retin A) since it has a higher strength and also because it only costs $4 to add it in my order, I could just give it to my mother or sister. So now I am not sure if I should use it or give it away.
I do not have acne, except for the occasional 1 or small zits on my chin. Any of you tried both?
TIA!

If retin-a is working for you I'd stick with that. I think its individual, my skin hated retin-a but did great with taz.

Thanks Girlie. Can you tell me what reaction you got from Retin A than you did not get from Taz?

Retin A .1% worked for me and was actually prescribed by my Dermatologist (when I had one years ago) but the Retin A I got from ADC was only .5% so I was wondering if I should switch to Taz since it is .1%.

thanks again.

I have both 0.05% RA and 0.1% taz from ADC and 0.04% RAM from Canada. I rotate them. I have to buffer the taz though, since it seems to be pretty harsh for my skin.

If you read about halfway down the page of this article, it suggests that 0.1% taz may reduce wrinkles faster than 0.05% RA. Kind of a flawed study since the % were not equal, but interesting.

I had continuous irritating from retin-a, whihc is normal when you start but it never got any better. Eventually I found a new derm who put me on taz and I tolerated it very well from that start.

Hello,

The fact that tazorac is 0.1% does not mean that it's "stronger" than Retin-A 0.05%

Tazorac is tazarotene, and Retin-A is tretinoin, so you can't compare strengths directly because it's like comparing apples to oranges.

That would be like saying that Tylenol is stronger than Advil because Tylenol has 325 mg of acetaminophen and Advil has 200 mg of ibuprofen. It just doesn't work that way.

Regarding the article saying that tazoratene may act faster than tretinoin, I did a critique of that study here:
Tazorac vs. Retin-A

Thanks for the link Josee. It's very informative but at the same time going over my head. Rolling Eyes
I guess the moral of the story is to try both and decide for myself what worKs?
