Oil controls oil. I personally am not oily anymore since I've gotten older but many ladies are having fabulous results using the Oil Cleansing Method or OCM. It balances your oil production instead of stripping the oil from your skin like many products made for oily skin do. By stripping or drying up the oil on your skin you are sending a message to your skin to produce more oil. Here's a few links to the oil cleansing method. You can buy the oils from your local health-food store or even from your grocery store. You just need to figure out what percentages of what oils work best for your skin type.

I've been using Guinot AcniLogic Serum. It has helped with the decreasing the oiliness in my skin and with the acne breakouts. I love this stuff. |

Clarins Lotus Oil is designed for oily skin, if I recall correctly. |

Wow, I've just read up on OCM and I think I am hooked on the idea even before trying! Did you know that this is what ancient egyptians used - oil to cleanse themselves? And they were known for amazing skin. So, yes, and I just have in stock castor, almond, palm, safflower and organic canola.
Any ideas if I have a combo skin - what percentage of castor should I use? (dry cheeks, oily T-zone).
Which wash clothes are best - rough, really soft? |

many people regular facecloths, but some people say it's better to use microfiber cloths.. which are sometimes in the house cleaning section of the pharmacy.. they are much softer and exfoliate more gently. sometimes I even use material from a cut up t-shirt, which is very gentle. |

Hi
I used to have oily-combination skin, but not anymore. I think, if we eat properly and avoid those "greasy" foods and concentrate more on fresh foods ie. vegies, drink lots of water, I think your skin will improve in a couple of months.

I agree 100% with this statement - problems with skin are just a top of a problem, and it needs to be attacked from multiple angles - lifestyle, eating habits, exercise routine, stress, smoking/alcohol etc. |

My oil problem is completely gone since using the Buzz on Acne. I can't even believe the difference. In fairness to the oil cleansing method, I also use Jojoba oil mixed with my cleanser and as a moisturizer on most nights. It probably has a little to do with both. |

Are you looking to control or cover? Finacea or similar azelaic acid products are a real help for balancing sebum production.
An oil cleanser will also emulsify your natural oils off your face.
I mattify my face by using 'cone-based sunscreens...I use and LOVE Mentholatum UV Moisture Milk SPF 50+ PA+++, but Shiseido SPF 55 lotion is easier to get. |

I would blot my skin frequently during the day. Thats all you can do. DO NOT use over drying products, use a GENTLE cleanser and sunscreen. |

There is a whole thread on oil cleansing method right here on EDS in the DIY section. Loads of links and info. The standard mix is 50% Castor oil 50% any oil that suits your skin type.
2 things oil cleans oil and stripping skin of oil causes your skin to over produce oil.

I agree as to diet, but many things can contribute to congested skin, just the horrid polution in the air!
The thing about OCM (and you need to cleanse somehow) is:
you can get glowing clean beautiful skin with such simple things.
Oils
Your hands
Any clean wash cloth
Time to treat yourself to a relaxing facial massage.
I have been using this method for years and love it!!!!

If you have oily skin, you would have to at least mask your face once a week with a deep cleansing mask. One that absorbs excess oil, etc.
I used to have oily T zone but after i started masking once a week, i didnt break out as much. |
