I have some acne scars that are brown....like dark brown on my skin.
Regular concealer makes it look worse. I need to neutralize the color so that it is unnoticeable.
I am Asian and they my acne scars are in stark contrast to my normally tan skin. I do have a yellow undertone and the dark brown spots are embarrassing. While I am trying to treat these spots, does anyone have any suggestions for a great makeup that can neutralize the color to blend into my natural skin color and be unnoticeable?
What are the color combo's to neutralize the colors of my skin?
I really need some special help here!
Here are some pictures of my scars. I have no breakouts, my dermatologist took care of that. My skin is perfect, no bumps (Clarisonic ), and no noticeable clogged pores. This is what I have in between me and perfect skin!
Also, any suggestions on laser/acid treatments (one only) that will finally get rid of this!?

As I look at these, I see some comedones that are clogged but I am not going to force those out. I will just let the Clarisonic eventually take them out.
However, I have no active acne. However, these are my scars. I am so sick of them and want to get rid of them. I am thinking of laser or acid peel. I want one time/ one treatment thing. None of this over a series of 3-6 treatments.
Plus, I need to know what kind of makeup would be great to neutralize the color of my scars. I am asian and you can tell how we scar. It is bad beside my clean happy skin! |

Dermarolling and/or a dermastamp should help your scarring. There is a HUGE thread on it in the DIY section of the forum.
Once you get that under control, you're gonna be gorgeous. I am so jealous already! |

I have been dermarolling and have done my first round on these scars about one week ago.
I would like something that I could get tomorrow that will fix all this. |

yes, dermarolling has done wonders for me. i used a 1.5mm 4week once, and 0.25 daily.
unfortunately there isnt anything that can make them go away in 1 day.
but be patient with your clarisonic, n dermaroller.
then u can use things like vit c serums, retin-a at night, and peeling once a month. |

Hi, Miss Tina! First of all, have you talked to your dermatologist about this? She/He might be able to recommend the right peel or treatment for you after looking at your skin and hearing about your history. Another good option is to find a spa that does things like peels and microdermabrasion and get a few facials that incorporate those things. Whatever treatment you choose, a prescription like retin-A or tazorac will certainly make the whole process go faster. In between treatments, I would recommend trying Epidermx and Chrysalyx from Greatnewskin.com. Those products helped me a lot when I was dealing with acne scars similar to yours. Amy, the owner of Greatnewskin, is a nurse and her daughter is a model, and she has a lot of experience dealing with acne scars so I'm sure she'd be happy to answer questions you have or offer advice too.
And hey, congratulations on beating the acne--- that's more than half the battle already!^-^ |

| I have the type of skin that even a small pimple leaves a red mark for months. What's working for me is weekly use of PSF pumpkin peel and Karin Herzog oxygen mask and daily use of NIA24 products. But this is not a one time use, fast result process. I also bought the Mama Lotion because the pics on their site showed some great results with old acne scars, but it stung too much for me and I didn't use it very long. I also think I went overboard with it (used a thick layer everyday) because I had alot of dryness in the areas I used it. If I had used a thin layer in a more gradual approach then I might have stuck with it longer and had better results. Here are some before and after pics (the lady at the end has acne scarring). http://mamalotion.com/before-and-after.html |

| Hello, Miss Tina. You are a really beautiful girl, and I'm sure a good foundation during the day will cover your scars while they heal. I would like to suggest Obagi as a treatment. Many people have seen great improvement in discolorations with Obagi treatments. unfortunately it doesn't work quickly. Good luck! |

| MissTina, when I look at the pictures, I don't see what I call scarring, I see what I call hyperpigmentation. Have you seen a derm and they said it was scarring? Have you checked into anything that would help more with pigmentation problems? I don't think that dermarolling helps too much with pigmentation issues, at least in my opinion. I believe Bethany got no results concerning her pigmentation issues either with dermarolling. |

| Riley Girl, you are right - it looks mostly like hyperpigmentation. Wasn't it you that posted before/after photos of yourself while on the Obagi regimen? They were beautiful photos, and they'd sell a bunch of Obagi if they used them in their marketing efforts! |

I think you are thinking of our beautiful Tamgirl99's photos. They would sell a ton if they used her before and afters. She is gorgeous! |

I also forgot to say that I find MMU covers scarring and pigmentation very well, much better than the cream cover-ups. I just use the same color on my marks that I use on my face, just with a smaller brush and most of the time you can't even see the mark and it stays most of the day. And I agree with the others, you are a very beautiful girl and I am so jealous of your lips. I've been using L2K for a couple years now trying to get those lips. |

I have similar hyperpigmentation spots on my face and I have been using the Anti-Aging LightStim or AALS. My Hubby, who notices nothing (not kidding! I had about 12 inches off when I had my hair cut and he never noticed said to me that the spots have fade ) told me that the spots were fading. There are several LED lights recommended on this board that you can research. |

This is correct...I did not see any hyperpigmentation improvement with dermarolling.
In fact, if you overdo dermarolling on the face, you can actually cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation to occur if your skin is prone to PIH (and yours looks like it is). |

You guys are all too kind. hehe. Yes, it is hyper pigmentation from my acne scars after my makeup from my wedding. My dermatologist first treated my acne. I had cystic acne and clogged pores all over the place. And now I am not having to deal with that!
I don't want to switch to Obaji or anything else because this has been a battle for about 6 years and I am finally clear. I don't want to fix it if it is not broken. So I don't want to switch up my skincare. I read a lot about these products that you guys are on and have almost tried everything. I finally found my stride!
So now my skin is clear and I can see all of the damage it has done. I am so happy that I have no more breakouts but have to now deal with the collateral damage of it all. So now, the next step, it is just my spots that I need to cover and putting foundation or MMU just makes it look horrible. I was looking for a color correction cover up that people use to cover up birthmarks, port wine marks and vetiligo.
So, to treat these hyperpigmentated scars you guys suggest that instead of dermarolling I try the LED's for my acne spots?
What brand, color, etc would you suggest for me to start researching into? |

I can recommend the Anti-Aging Light Stim. It is not an overnight fix but with determined repeated usage it is slowing fading my hyperpigmentation areas. The area first to respond was the lower sides of my face under the earlobe. Some days I use an exfoliator before treatment and some days I apply a Vit C serum before treatment. There is a discount for the AALS for EDS members. As I wrote earlier, it must be working because Hubby actually noticed and complimented me
At first he was skeptical about the use of the LED but now he is convinced. |
