The only recent clinical trial data for Palomar and lasers that I found was for an erbium laser.
Palomar apparently did the research and product development for this device and the clearance to market, OTC, was granted to Palomar. P&G is a partner with Palomar for home use products. They are doing the launch and marketing as well as providing money to Palomar for future R&D, operation costs, etc. P&G will do the marketing and distribution and will get a share of the profits for all of this.
P&G is in a great position and extremely adept at this sort of thing, Afterall, they are responsible for Dunkin' Donuts coffee beans in the grocery store. |

A friend was visiting today and saw that I was searching for clinical trial data and wanted to know what I was looking for.
Oddly enough, last year sometime, he saw a television show about this device. Several dermatologists were interviewed. The basic consensus was that the product will work with consistent, extended use but it will not give results as good as those obtained with a professional laser as it is far too weak. They felt that the best market, at least for them, an understandably so, was as an adjunct to professional laser treatment in order to maintain the professional laser results. |

I was under the impression that Palomar and P&G/Gillette had a licensing agreement only for the home-use laser hair removal device? Perhaps this article is incorrect:
http://www.massdevice.com/news/palomar-proctor-gamble-rework-otc-hair-removal-device-deal
http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=96490&p=irol-SECText&TEXT=aHR0cDovL2lyLmludC53ZXN0bGF3YnVzaW5lc3MuY29tL2RvY3VtZW50L3YxLzAwMDA4ODE2OTUtMTAtMDAwMDI5L3htbA%3d%3d
Jonny, have you been able to find any information that specifically relates to an agreement between Palomar and P&G for the laser skin renewal device (for lines and wrinkles)? |

I found information in the Investor Communication section http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=96490&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=1506415&highlight=, which states "For more information, please see the Amendment filed as Exhibit 10.1 to a Current Report on Form 8-K filed today and the non-exclusive License Agreement filed as Exhibit 10.1 to a Current Report on Form 8-K filed March 3, 2008." These documents are in the SEC Filing section on the Palomar website.
My understanding of these documents and License Agreements is that P&G has non-exclusive rights to licensed products retroactive to 2003 and forward, not just the hair removal device. They also have an agreement with Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies. |

The QVC ship date for the device is 01/11/2011. It looks like it will be several months later. |

I just read that Johnson & Johnson is no longer partnering with Palomar.
The amendment in the agreement between Palomar and P&G on the financial side is that P&G is decreasing pre-launch monies and increasing commercial launch monies. Sort of can't blame them since the hair removal device and at-home laser have/are taking so long to be ready to market.
At this time, the marketing partner seems immaterial given that there is nothing to market.
Another company Cynosure, signed an agreement with Unilever.
Cynosure (CYNO) Signs Multi-Yr Agreement with Unilever to Develop Light-Based Devices for Home Use
July 1, 2009 9:08 AM EDT
"Cynosure, Inc. (Nasdaq: CYNO) today announced that it has signed a multi-year, funded cooperative agreement with Unilever Ltd. to develop and commercialize light-based devices targeting the home use personal care market. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed."
I'm certain that there are more companies working on home use laser devices. At some point there will be an antiaging device available. I will definitely need a face lift by then. |

What were your thoughts about it Frodo? I know cool lasers have been popular in Europe but they have been in the thousands....so this is more affordable in comparison. |

This one is only approved for the eyes. I wonder if that means in order to get it approved they had to focus on one area? Heck, I haven't a clue. Can't imagine why a user couldn't try it out on other areas. The introductory price seems reasonable especially with the 3 payments. I paid a heck of a lot more money on the STOP that's sitting in a drawer somewhere and hasn't seen the light of day for quite some time. |

I read on line that Nordstroms and Dr offices will be selling them in early Januray and other retailers later in 2011 at $499.00, I think I will order one from QVC , I don't know why you couldn't use other than just the eyes.I will be using it on my eyes Thats where I could use the help I am a little excited and a little nervous because its not cheap but the before and afters do look good. |

Frodo if you ever decide to sell the Stop I have a friend that wants one. As far as the FDA approval...I imagine that the company went for the eye area first as the Lightstim did. They have to do an application for one face area at a time. Just because it has FDA approval for the eye area doesn't mean it wouldn't work for other areas....they just haven't gotten the FDA approval for those areas yet. We know that from Lightstim. |

Most of the LEDs seem to be marketed for periorbital wrinkles - so I think, as Toby said, it's just some FDA red tape thing.
Isn't the STOP also manufactured by Palomar? |

Hi everyone - For those of you who have ordered
the new laser. let us know how it works. It will be interesting to compare it to the AALS.
Would like to know the difference in the results from the LED technology vs the energy
technology from the new laser. Am wondering if they will both have the same results so let us know! Thx DiPhx |

I'll be interested to see if anyone has any positive results too. I'm a little skeptical about this. Having had a Pearl Laser treatment last year (which yielded negligible results) I can't see how a much less powerful home device can deliver - other than the fact that it can be used frequently. I've spoken to a doctor about lasers and he said that frequency and intensity of treatments was the key.
I feel the same about the STOP device, which I do have. It's really hard to know whether it's actually doing anything because I can't see any visible improvements to my skin. On the other hand I just hope that something is going on beneath the skin and there is actually some collagen building happening. I suppose I take the same attitude to the Lightstim as well. |

Hi Everyone, sorry I haven't been around, last year was a bit rough, job loss issues etc, but getting back to normal.
I am really interested in buying one of these but they aren't selling in the UK, if anyone would be willing to buy me one and post to the UK, that would be wonderful.
Evie is doing well.

Good to hear from you Philip - if you don't get any offers you can use a mail forwarding company like http://www.shipito.com/ They give you a US address to which you have the parcel sent, then they forward it on to you.
BTW, how is the Sculptra going? I recently had my first treatment so no results as yet. From what I've read, it takes about three treatments before any noticeable difference is seen (hopefully). |

Thanks for the top tip, bless you.
The Sculptra is working really well, it took 3 months to start to show and has grown over the past 12 months, and and can see it reducing in size, but for the price I was really pleased with the effect.

How many treatments did you have?
We are back on dry land - which is quite difficult in Queensland at the moment! Have you heard about the floods here? 75% of Queensland is under water and the capital city, Brisbane, is like a war zone. They're saying it's going to take two years to get everything back to normal. It is truly terrible. |
