An alternative to Champagne or bone colours, to make eyes bright and look awake:
I'm medium toned, warm, olive-y, with yellow undertones, anywhere between NC35 or 37 but can get quite tan, too (NC40 has been where I'm darkest). My hair and eyes are dark brown. I've just discovered that when wearing neutrals a sheer veil of shimmery golden green e/s (yes, green! like MAC Bitter or the solid colour in Mineralized Fresh Green Mix )is great at giving very subtle colour and brighten my eye area like no other! You place the colour right underneath the brow bone above and/or in the outer crease (not where you normally would a highlighter, which is on the brow bone). This also goes especially nicely even when I'm sporting smokey eyes with brown e/s.
I'm pretty simple about eye makeup and I go with as little as I can help it. Though I rarely ever go without an eyeliner (Fluidline in Dipdown is my HG) I try not to load my lids with products so unless it's a special occasion I don't use highlighters on my brow bones (which tend to clog and get pimply with too frequent use of cream eye makeup). So this works for me because it is a light powder used very sparingly, yet it gives your eyes that brightness. If you're like me who don't pile on e/s and/or have much time in the morning to do eye makeup, this works pretty well.
Oh the green goes well with most warm colour outfits, too!
HTH somebody! |

I meant brightening. I'm an English teacher and shockahorror, I see a grammar mistake in my own writing!
BTW I see this effect can be achieved on cool toned gals with shimmery silvery blue! It's better than pink, IMHO, which I've seen people use. Pink can sometimes make you look like you lack sleep (well at least this girl that I see uses pink e/s does...) |

I said that this was exciting for me because I don't normally wear colour on my eyes; I generally stick to the neutrals - browns, taupes, malts etc.
The purplest purple I've worn is BB Heather (Raisin makes me look knocked out, unless I layer over Heather for some dimension). Still, this ends up neutralish.
So anyways - to be able to make green a neutral is just cool . |
