I have some PIH on my upper arms and shoulders from a bad allergic reaction a year ago....it's pretty bad on one arm/shoulder, it doesn't appear to be lightening at all anymore. I swim and so I am tan. I wear sunblock, but if you're in the sun a lot, your going to tan no matter what. I want to figure out how I can get rid of these marks in my situation (being in the sun a lot) I can't be slathering retinoids all over my back shoulders and arms...so that's out. What about hydroquinone? I know if you apply to freckles but are out in the sun its kinda useless....does this apply to PIH as well or would it get rid of them for good? Is a glycolic peel a good option? I hear you have to stay away from tanning a week before and another week after to avoid permatan scarring, but these marks are bothering me so bad, I could take two weeks off. Help |

| Mex I'm sorry to say I don't know the answer. I do know though that you MUST stay out of the sun if you have a peel, laser or any other skin rejuvenation treatment. Can't you wear a rashy when you swim?(A long sleeved UV resistant stretchy shirt) You can get them from surf shops. I surf and I always wear a full wetsuit. |
