I am quite lucky and have very good skin. No spots, discolouration, broken caps etc.
My skin is fine except for the fact that I can apply powder to my face and 15 mins later my nose is shining through like a button! It's really annoying as I'm constantly having to "powder my nose" throughout the day to keep in matt like the rest of my face!
I don't wear foundation, just powder, but I did try using a foundation just on my nose before applying powder to see if this helped - but to no avail! Same as before!
Can anyone help me?? I'm not very up on make up as I don;t wear it much and really need something to target my very small but incredibly shiny nose!!! |

There's not a lot you can do about your oil production. I'm shiny as well. The best thing is to use lots of blotting papers. The powder will only look cakey. |

Yes - I do find that the powder on my nose becomes like that after a while and I have to wipe off and re-apply. It so annoying!!
I was hoping for some miracle product to ease my pain!! |

As someone already suggested I would use blotting papers or even clean tissue to take off oil. Powders will show after a while on your skin and you will have to take it off and put fresh powder. I know it is a pain. Unfortunately besides blotting papers I can't suggest anything else. |

Blotting paper will make it worse. Tissue paper is better. |

Perhaps you are aggravating the problem by trying to 'dry out' the skin on your nose? Sometimes moisturizing (jojoba oil is awesome for oily skin) is a way to control the shinies. I've also found that pure silk powder does a really good job of keeping shine at bay for a long time. |

Have you tried Rice Ultra-Matte Face Fluid? You apply it prior to make-up and sunscreen and it does help you to maintain a shineless face or nose! I have oily skin and I also have used the Rice Foaming Cleanser and the Rice Purifying Toner. These products are all by L'Occitane. |

Have you tried using a mattifier on your nose. There are many to choose from at Sephora. Ask a saleslady to help you. I buy mine on the internet as it's not sold in stores. It's called Super Matte Anti-Shine. It keeps the oily parts of my shine free all day. |

I found the best product for controlling excess oil on my t-zone. It's a Japanese product called Kiss Me Magical Pore Care. Since I'm new, I can't post a link, but if you go to ebay, there is one seller named singingpierre who has it for sale. He/she is very good and I've always gotten it in a timely manner. The Bobodave online shop has it too, but it's $5 more.
I stockpile this stuff like no one's business. I even got my therapist turned onto it when she was complaining of an oily t-zone.
The best part is it's silicone-free, which I really like. |

I've had good resutls with Laura Mercier's foundation primer. I have oily skin that typically requires powdering once or twice a day, but if I use the LM primer with the LM oil free tinted moisturizer, I can go through an entire work day without powdering at all! |

Well so far it looks like I will be offering you the cheapest suggestion ... and I can guarantee it works ... I've been using it for over 20 years!
Just keep a bottle of plain unflavored Milk of Magnesia handy and whenever you see your nose looking shiny ... apply a very small dab of MoM over your nose ... it will dry almost immediately and if it leaves a whitish residue you can then buff this off with a tissue ... this is the best and cheapest mattifier I have ever found. Works like magic.
For awhile, when I was using greasy sunscreens, my nose would get very shiny periodically throughout the day. I'd use blotting papers (either the Clean & Clear blue ones, or the more cost-effective ones from Paula's Choice) then apply the MoM. I no longer use greasy sunscreen and my nose rarely shines - but when it does I still apply a minuscule amount of MoM - it always does the job.
By the way, if/when the product dries out in the bottle, you just need to add a little water and shake it up to renew. |

The best thing that works for me is bare escentuals mineral veil. On sephora they sell it in a to go brush form that fits great in your purse for those mid day touchups. |

Is it due to too oily skin on nose? I learned that some skin care products with green tea as ingredent may have the effect of controlling the oil. |

I just saw this product on tv from
Makeupartistschoice.com
it is called anti-shine and it is to last all day. They use it on camera to mattify the areas that give off a sheen. I am not sure how thick it is or anything however, Kathy Lee Gifford was all about it and got herself some!
Check it out on their website. They say that it doesn't take alot and you just put a little dab on and it stays on! |

I think you may need some oil control skincare. I use cle de plea beaute oil control gel. It is quite good. It is not a strong oil control product so it won't make your skin dry but make the skin less oily. |

Pearl Powder works really well to combat excess oiliness and is inexpensive and natural to boot. |
