Hi friends,
I got a mailout from MUAC this morning telling me of a new product;
The MUAC Acne Pore Minimizer will change your face's appearance and texture by:
-Subduing oil-clogging bacteria responsible for blemishes and acne lesions
-Inhibiting acne, blackhead and comedome formation
-Reducing oil production
-Shrinking pores!
-Refining skin texture!
What's the secret?
A "power-ingredient" known as Sepicontrol A5. It is
a potent inhibitor of 5 a-reductase (a cause of acne and of alopecia).
In fact, clinical studies prove a 78% reduction of comedomes with Sepicontrol A5 versus study controls!
So I went looking further to find anything else I could. Nothing on EDS, but came across who apparently found the ingredient, from CINNAMON!
Here's what they claimed:
* Normalizes sebum production
* Acts as astringent
* Regulates bacteria
* Prevents acne and comedones
Extremely useful, efficient and versatile, Sepicontrol A5 allows you to treat the important problems of oily skin. Recent studies carried out in prestigious research institutes have provided unequivocal results.
Carried out on a sample of 20 persons along only eight weeks, they led to the following results:
* A 20% sebum reduction due to sebum production regulation
* A 78% reduction of acne and comedones
* Optimization of the skin tissue appearance; the pores are consequently not dilated and the skin appearance is less opaque but at the same time brighter
The Sepicontrol A5 active principle has been controlled in terms of skin tolerability on human volunteers and on recognized standard supports (not tested on animals).
I've dramatically reduced my blackheads with the use of NCN microfibre cloths, clarisonic, retin A, and lately OCM, but still get hormonal breakouts. Could it really be possible I could have the pure clear skin I dream of???
I'd love to hear if anyone has tried this!! |

This looks very interesting and it's not expensive, 8oz for $26.00. Here's the ingredients.
Ingredients:
Active ingredient: Salicylic Acid 2%. Other ingredients: Water, glycolic aid, ammonium glycolate, SD alcohol (natural), mandelic acid, hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel), camelia sinensis (green tea), butyle glycol, Sarcosine, Capril Cinnamonum Cassia (cinnamon extract), hops, equisetum arvense (horsetail plant), cymbopogon citratus (lemongress), hydrastis canadenis (goldenseal), anthem nobilis (chamomomile), eucalyptus, polysorbate 80, menthol,
jasmine alcohol, methylisothiazolinone.
I've been having good results from using the DIY Apple Cider Vinegar toner with Aspirin (Salicylic Acid) so I'm thinking of adding a pinch of cinnamon to the mix - I wonder if ordinary cinnamon will do the trick?
BTW, I have Sebaceous Hyperplasia so I'm always looking for something that unclogs pores. |

100ml Distilled water
4 Aspirin (uncoated)
100ml Apple Cider Vinegar
Few drops Lemon Essential Oil
Dissolve Aspirin in water - you can microwave on medium for a minute or so to thoroughly dissolve.
Mix in Apple Cider Vinegar.
Add a few drops of the Lemon Oil if you don't like the smell of the ACV - it gives the solution a nice citrus scent. In addition, the lemon also helps to shrink pores. |

BTW, I tried incorporating some cinnamon powder but it doesn't dissolve. So I think using Cinnamon Oil might be a better solution. However, since incorporating the Lemon Oil into the ACV Toner, I'm pretty happy with the above recipe. |

thanks for the update. I think the sepicontrol is an extract from cinnamon, so it's probably not going to be as concentrated in the oil or powder. However, you never can tell. Cinnamon is meant to be excellent in your diet, too! |

After a very quick Google search I've determined that the ingredient listed in Sepicontrol (Cinnamomum Cassia) is just plain cinnamon so I would presume that an essential oil derived from cinnamon would be fine to use. However, I'm just talking off the top of my head because I'm not a formulating chemist. And, yes, cinnamon certainly seems to have lots of beneficial properties - not least, men find the smell very enticing apparently! |

Wow! That's fantastic! Thanks for finding that out. I might add a touch of cinnamon to a serum I made with SAS ingredients last night. It looks a bit like dirt anyway, so a bit more brown powder won't hurt! |

Haha! Love the Aussies!! You guys just made me a touch homesick for the first time (been in US for nearly four years).
BTW, I love the toner too. I bought the white willow bark from SAS, but it's def more expensive than that. And I've got no clue what % it is. Just put a dash or so in, and go by feel. Stingy? strong/not stingy? weak !!
Maybe I'll put some cinnamon in! |

I love this stuff!I just ordered 3 more bottles. One for me, one for my grandaughter and another for a friend.It clears out your pores, controls the oil and doesn't dry out your skin. My grandaughter said she won't live without it. She had three compliments on how nice her complexion is after using the first bottle.She had been breaking out on the side of her face and had some bumps on her forehead. Her skin is clear and smooth now. |

I am always skeptical of companies that post things like 78% improvement, without quaifying the research that their claims are based on. And a study of 20 people is a joke. Which 20 people? But it would seem that the active ingredient in this is SA, which can be found or compounded much cheaper. |

The ingredient is the most important. I always read before I decide to buy new skincare. |
