Does anyone know a way to cure uneven pigmentation caused by steroid cream? My sis used steroid cream because my mom said it will help her with her blemish problems. She didn't know it was steroid cream so she used it on a section of her right cheek. The steroid cream was prescribed for my brother to use for the body area Shock . Now that area is slightly lighter than the rest of her face. I can't see the light patch, caused by steroid cream, at all but she told me that it bothers her. She said it's obvious in strong light when she's not wearing makeup. She normally wears corrective powder, no foundation. I couldn't see that patch in the sun or in any kind of lights. But she told me that her friends kept thinking that she has something, like white cream patch and tell her to rub it off, on her face when she's not wearing face makeup, whenever she's in the sunlight. I don't see the light patch that she's talking about even when she's not wearing makeup. This bothers her so much that she's getting depressed about it.

Anyone experienced this before? Can someone help please?

If she leaves the skin alone it will resolve naturally over about 3 - 6 months max. NEVER use steroids on your face anyway it not worth the problems that it can create!

Unfortunately when it comes to hypo-pigmentation there is not much to be done about it. Its possible that the skin will return to normal on its own over time though.

Hi Lisey,
If this is still an issue, here's a start:

Google: Dr. Urbanek and/or V tar for hypopigmentation

The v-tar cream is supposed to increase melanin production in the hypopigmented areas.

Take care!

If she leaves the skin alone it will resolve 'naturally' over about 3 - 6 months max. Please avoid the temptation to mess around.

The only other alternative is to go tanning and use sun cream on all areas apart from the lightened parts. That will even things up but the lightened areas will have decreased sun protection!!! If she goes for this option, I'd wait three months first!

Have you tried karin herzog oxygen creams? I found them very calming and healing to any skin conditions.
