I have several lights - handheld and the dpl - The dpl was my first purchase and I've come back around to loving it - I spray Ageless Secret and lay the panels right on my face - for two sessions of 9 minutes each and YES it does make your skin glow.
I also use the AALS around the eye area to plump for 3 minutes each when I have time. Happy to have both units. |
Good point. I guess you can't put the DPL panels directly on your skin by your eyes like with something smaller like the AALS. Something to consider if you're trying to decide between the 2. Does anyone with the DPL feel they get good results around their eyes (over 50 ladies please, not 20-somethings ). |

I did not realize the Lightstim could be used around the eye area that is good to know. |

The Lightstim is an LED light therapy medical device, cleared by the FDA for the treatment of periorbital wrinkles, not to say that it isn't effective for all areas of the face because it is. Lightstim just started with getting the approval for the eye area first. |

I have been using my Lightstim just at the corners of my eyes where the crows feet are, so what you are saying is that I can use it directly under my eyes what about the upper lids?? |

I use the Lightstim all around the bone under the eye and the light does spread out to the area just beyond the head of the device. As far as upper lid, call lightstim for that information. |

I'm pretty sure I read NOT to put it on your eyelids but I can't remember if that was in the actual directions or not. |

I'm new here so can't post a link, but I just saw a picture of the DPL closer up than I'd seen before (target dot com), with the lights OFF, and...can anyone who has one tell me, are the lights really that far apart?? And you still find it effective? Still want one but this surprised me. Looking for some reassurance (or not) before taking the plunge.
Thank you. |

I went and looked at the picture on the website you mentioned. They do look much farther apart then the hand held units. I'm on the verge of buying one too so I'd like to hear a DPL lover chime in here. |

Yes, the lights on the DPL panels are much further apart than on AALS. But as I said, I like DPL more than AALS. For me the main difference is in the way they can be used. AALS is more convenient because you don't have to sit with your eyes closed for 20 minutes. I can either lie on my bed or sit and read or watch something at the same time. Since I have both units now I use them interchangeably. I started with DPL first and loved it, then I added AALS and have not noticed any difference. In fact, when I travelled to Paris for 1 month and was using AALS exclusively, my skin lost its luminosity gained while using DPL.

Thank you so much for your reply RussianSunshine. I knew you to be one of the DPL fans here (who has and uses LS also) and hoped you'd comment.
I know some people who prefer handheld units like them b/c as you said, you have to have your eyes closed through the whole DPL treatment. For me, I would welcome a chance to close my eyes and relax for 10-20 min. after a long day's work. |

And that's how I use my DPL. I put Enigma's Extended Trance Mix on, close my eyes, and let the music carry me away-yeah! |

Are the DPL panels resting on your face or are you holding them just a ways from your face? |

I WAS enamored with my handheld DPL Nuve UNTIL last Friday nite when the darn thing quit on me. I think it's a problem with the cord, because when I wiggle it or move the unit shuts off. I got it to work off and on, until today (Tues).
As soon as it started giving me trouble I ordered a Lightstim from QVC (it's $244, free shipping, 5 value pays and a 90 money back guarantee) mostly because of the *2 yr warranty*, great customer service and the raving reviews I've read about it on this forum. I cannot wait for it to arrive--I hope by the end of the week.
I'm so happy I ordered it too. Monday a.m. when I contacted Led Technologies about the DPL, they informed me that they will send me a prepaid label and I have to return the unit to be inspected. How ridiculous, I've only had it 1 1/2 mos. I'm going to give it to my mother if she wants to use it for her arthritis, if not it will be put away as a spare/back-up. What a hassle and an expensive $200 disappointment it turned out to be. And NOT because of the results, but the fact that it doesn't seem to be well-made or meant to last very long. |

Some of the advertising photos show the model with the device resting directly on the skin. I think if I were to use it, I'd wear those teaspoon shaped eye goggles and rest both panels directly over my face.
Also, I thought that the treatment time was supposed to be 9 minutes twice a day. |

The cord on the LightStim is very fragile, also. Many people have had their unit stop working b/c the end of the cord that plugs into the hand unit shorts out from being bent. Steve at LS says to make sure the cord is hanging free, and hanging down. He says always use an extension cord so there's no pull on the cord end.
Yes the DPL panels can go directly on your skin and the directions (or description online) says LED light doesn't hurt your eyes if you keep them closed (don't open them and look at the lights). You can use goggles but they aren't necessary. Putting the panels right on your skin is a sure way to get the benefits of the LED lights. Otherwise, I don't see how a person would keep their face consistently 1/4" away from the panel during treatment (not to mention due to the contours of the face, some of your skin might be that far away but other skin would be farther away). The farther your skin is away from the lights, the less benefit you're getting.
My DPL is on it's way to me! Can't wait. |

That's what I do. I thought some people were laying down with the panels resting on their face. I like that idea and was even thinking of asking my HB if he could mount them on something like a dentist light that can swing down. Although I may fall asleep and that wouldn't be a good idea. |

I have used my new DPL twice. It's not exactly as I'd imagined. I'm finding there's a bit of a learning curve with it.
For anyone who lays down and puts the panels on their face, can you offer any tips as to how you do that effectively? I imagined it being like opening a book and laying it on my face. Simple. Not so! The panels are separate (connected by a small cord) so you have to hold them in place. I find that instead of relaxing through the treatment, I'm constantly adjusting to make sure as much of my face is covered as possible, not to mention shifting it b/c the lights poke me and aren't as comfortable against the skin as the handheld units where the lights are very close together. Also, holding the panels up is not exactly relaxing on the arms and hands. Please clue me in here!
When I do my neck it's easier, I can rest the panels down on my body. Then I do relax and fall asleep! |

I've been using this unit since January. I taped the 2 panels to the piece that holds the two together with duct tape. Then I just sit it on my face. I don't know how anyone uses this with the stand. |

I have found through trial and error that it works best for me to sit back in a recliner so I'm not lying flat, nor am I sitting up straight. I let the bottoms of the panels rest in the V between my thumbs and forefingers, with my elbows resting on the arms of the chair. The panels are situated like an open book on/in front of my face. I move it slightly during the 17 minute session to make sure I'm getting my entire face from top of hairline to bottom of jawline, sometimes with the lights actually touching my face and sometimes with them right up to my skin but not touching in all places. I lean back farther in the chair and tilt my head up as high as it will go for my neck session, holding it the same way. This is a relaxing position for me b/c my elbows are resting on the chair arms and the panels are resting against each other and my hands. I'm not holding my arms up in the air.
Because the lights are so far apart, I found that they can get uncomfortable when laid directly on my face (they poke), especially by my eyes, so this way I can easily adjust as needed without having to hold my arms up in the air, but still getting the panels much closer to my skin vs. sitting at a table.
The recliner also works well when I do my hands. I just lay the panels on my hands, which are on my lap as I recline.
What I'm liking about the DPL vs. the Lightstim is that I'm not only doing all the same areas in less time but all areas are getting 17 min. of LED treatment (or 9 for maintenance) vs. 3 min., and with more infrared lights to boot. |

Yes, Nanci's CS is great. But the unit is much cheaper at http://www.hollywoodbeautysecrets.com/led_light_therapy.htm |

Yes it is a bit cheaper at hollywoodbeauty. Just another note too so people know...they offer a 30-day return policy and Nanci's is 60 days. That's why I ordered from Nanci (plus I was ordering some other things from her anyway). I was really unsure I would like it and wanted the extra month to use it before making my decision about keeping it. |
