I've been looking for a new cleanser for acne, since the one I'm using isn't working very well. Anybody use Mario Badescu? I've been considering that, but I'm not really sure. |

One thing to watch for is overstripping your skin with a harsh cleanser. You can dry up your skin to the point where your skin tries to compensate with it's own oils resulting in acne. I believe this happened to me in the past. I was washing my face too often and my skin just couldn't take it.
I have found that Merle Norman Luxiva (Normal to Dry) cream cleanser works quite nicely. I still have that itch to try new products that promise bigger and better results. I want to try MD Forte cleanser as it is rated so highly but I would be satisfied using my Luxiva cleanser longer as it is quite soothing and luxurious feeling. It only takes a small amount to clean your whole face fyi. HTH! |

I think you should just use a gentle cleanser and then another products to treat your acne. IMO acne cleansers alone will not help acne much at all. And most of them are quite drying. |

I use the MD Forte cleanser and love it. It helps to keep the texture of skin smooth as well as helping with breakouts. I wouldn't recommend using it for both morning and night everyday, it could be too drying. I use it conjuction with another cleanser and only use it every other day generally at night. |

I agree with GirlieGirl, you should use something mild for your skin, not to irritate your skin with harsh cleansers.
I would suggest to look into Murad products. Here is the link to one of the cleansers for problem skin:

Mario Badescu doesn't work for me I would recommend Murad. The acne line is pretty good. |

My friend recommended african black soap. She said it works. I did notice that her skin did not break out like it used to. |

Hi BeautyFreak and you others out there!
As a teen, I was prone to break outs. Nothing too serious, but still horrible for a teenage girl.
I found two tricks that worked wonders. One of these tricks is responsible for an esthetician, eye to her magic magnifying glass, exclaiming that I had surprisingly clean skin! (I was 48 or 49 at the time, still fighting the occasional pimple.)
The trick? For decades now, every evening when I shower, I wet a washcloth with warm (not hot) water, apply it to my face, hold it for several seconds, rinse it out and repeat this a few times. This seems to open the pores nicely, preparing them for a thorough yet gentle cleaning. (Just make sure the washcloth is not used for anything else but your face!)
I've used Neutrogena soap for years. Although I prefer the liquid, here in Sweden all I can find is the bar soap.
Once my face is soaped up, I use a make-up sponge to gently scrub over my entire face (not eyes or surrounding tissue). If you can find one that is flat, like the kind that come in powder compacts, it's easy to handle and easy to wash out after each use.
This leaves my skin surprisingly smooth, without using rough cleansers.
The next tip: rinse thoroughly! To help remove all traces of soap, I gently rub over my face while standing under the shower. Just a little bit of soap left on the skin used to cause me to break out terribly. This "manual rinse" led to much clearer skin for me, so it just might help some of you.
My son, at 16, started to break out. He now has his own washcloth - and clear skin.
To sum up, two tips to cleaner, clearer skin are:
1. Hold a warm, wet washcloth on your face for several seconds. Do this 3 or 4 times in a row, each shower.
2. After rinsing your skin, gently rub over it with your fingertips while standing under running water, to remove invisible traces of soap.
For a very gentle exfoliater, use a flat make-up sponge while your face is soaped up with Neutrogena facial wash.
And always, always BE GENTLE!
Wishing you all HAPPY SKIN.
EDIT: If you use a product that strips your skin of all its oils and has a drying effect, your skin will work overtime to replace the oil, leading to clogged pores and more break outs.

Nightbloom advice is awesome. My beautician uses a warm washcloth every time I have a facial. I never thought to use it in my own beauty regime. But i will now. Thanks nightbloom
Beautyfreak - I use Environ (south African product), the b-active range - Sebuwash, and Sebutone toner. It contains Australian Tea tree Wash, and it has no preservatives and fragrance.
I have been using this range for two months.
I have noticed improvement in my skin. Less blemishes on my chin. From whiteheads to just little red blemishes. So very happy.
At the moment i have no blemishes. fingers crossed blemishes stay away.

Like you, I struggled with this and scarring. The NaturDerm Triple Lavender Face Foam is incredible, lasts forever, is a toner and cleanser in one has zero ALS or SLS, and is paraben free. Use it with the Epidermx II and I think you'll be very happy! EDS has them under organic natural. |

I just started using Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel 3 weeks ago, and I love it, but my acne was already under control from using Dr. Mist.
I had a problem for years with cystic acne breakouts on my chin and it seemed like as one was healing, another breakout would be forming ... very frustrating, to say the least. I did 3 rounds of Accutane when I was in my late 20's, but nothing worked for me like when I discovered Dr. Mist 2 years ago. But Dr. Mist is not for cleansing -- it is a spray that I mist on after I've washed my face.
As for cleansing products, the MB Enzyme Cleansing Gel leaves my skin very smooth, bright and clean, without feeling stripped. It's perfect for my skin in the summer; not sure if I'll need to switch once the weather starts getting cooler here again. But I've been liking this cleanser so much that if I do need to switch I will probably look for something else in the MB line.
In the past, I've also used -- and liked -- Lush's Fresh Farmacy Soap, and Nano Cyclic Silver Soap. |

Russian, I have just recently tried this cleanser, but I'm not sure how much help I'll be to you. It's definitely a nice creamy cleanser that lathers well and feels good. The thing is I've had a few breakouts over the past 2 weeks or so and I'm not sure what to contribute it to because I've been using several new products.....AALS, Paulas Choice Pumpkin Mask, OCM (this may very well be causing it.) So now I'm trying to just use the AALS and 1 new thing at a time to narrow it down. When I ordered from PC, they sent me quite a few samples so maybe you could go that route before buying full size. |

I have been using the Paula's Choice skin balancing cleanser for about 6 months now. It is the best cleanser ever! It's really mild and rinses easily. BTW I have oily breakout prone skin. |
