The derm gave me a prescription for Retisol for these little skin bumps I get on my face, and one for around the eyes.

One precription is for .025 and the other .01...

I am thinking that maybe the .01 should be .1 for the face???

Isn't .01 less than .025???

confused.... I will call him on Monday but was wondering if anyone here uses this..

thank you

It your script is for .01 and .25, then I would guess .01 is for near eye and .25 for face.

If this is the first time you are using tretinoin then .25 for the face seems reasonable as you want to start of with the lowest % since it may work great for you.

I went and asked the pharmacist and he told me the .01 was the lowest percentage.

Do most people start off with .025?? Isn't .05% better?

Most people start off with the least %. Then if that doesn't work move up from there.

More is not necessarily better. Start low and then move up over time as you see how your skin reacts to retinoids. What's more important is using the strength your skin can take without too much irritation and flaking skin. Why start out with a higher dose if your skin might not be able to take it. Then you won't use the product because you'll be trying to avoid the irritation, redness and flaking all the time. It's better to use a lower strength more often than a higher strength once in awhile.

It took me a year to move up to the .05% strength. Everyones skin is different. Some can use the higher strengths right away but not many.

Good luck to you!!

I started out on the .05% right off the bat BUT I was using an over the counter retinoid product for several months before I started on retin-a. I think anyone considering using retin-a should start out on a retinol product like Green Cream or Skinceuticals retinol (both of which I used) before climbing up to retin-a. It really helped me prep my skin for the big guns. I had very little issues moving to retin-a and was able to use it nightly right away, just a bit of redness and peeling around my mouth for a few weeks.
