Hello- I've been looking at the Skin Biology site & plan to order a couple of things (I've never used any of the products before). I have one question: is it possible to wear mineral makeup over the CP Serum during the day? Does anyone else do this? I cannot apply the product to wear at night because my eyes have become sensitive to almost everything (they become very red).
Since this is my first post, I'll introduce myself: I'm 56 y.o., special ed. teacher, fair skin that was very oily (less now) with still an occasional zit, less sun damage than some boomers because I hated the discomfort of sunburns so started avoiding sun as a young adult, & my neck's starting to sag.
I hope I've posted this in the appropriate place. Thanks in advance for any feedback! |

I find that products with silicone in it (dont know if it does have it) tend to ball up under makeup regardless of mineral or liquid. So if they rec it for night there might be a reason for that. |

Yes you can, if it has some simple ing. Ask Dr P if unsure.
I asked him about mine - which has just a few ing (Titanium dioxide, coral calcium, zinc oxide, iron oxides) and he said it was fine. Since the ZiO just sits on top (unlike a micronized, liquid version) he thought it would be fine.
Def let your CPs soak in first and perhaps, even apply some emu on top before the MMU. That'll help the CPs soak in more for you. |

Thanks for the replies. Foxe, is the CP Serum sticky enough to hold the mineral makeup? |

Foxe, I should have reread your reply before I posted- you did mention using emu oil. I noticed that you also have oily skin. Have you had any problems with breakouts from that? |

Hi Foxe,
I have very oily skin as well and was wondering what brand of mmu do you use? Also, if you don't mind, what sunscreen have you found to be the best for oily skin? I'm looking for a physical ss that doesn't add an extra layer of "sheen." Thanks so much! |

I used to apply a mix of emu oil and hyaluronic acid over my CPs and it was fine under mineral makeup |

scribble, I have tried 3 diff types of emu oil along w/ squalene and jojoba oil. My fav oil is the one Skin Biology sells, to be honest. It has the right consistency and has a bunch of additional ingredients/anti-oxidants in it to add some 'punch', like vit e and COQ-10. It can spoil - I think it only lasted me about 4 mos or so the first time I bought it. The last time I bought, I put a smaller amt in another bottle and kept the big one in the fridge.
And, no, it does not cause breakouts. It will soak in. BUT, for oily skin, you have to use very little of it - a drop or 2. Perhaps using it at night is an option? |

Hi Kims - this summer, I've been using 302's Recovery Minerals for my face and decollete. It has SPF 30 (and the ing listed above- which is very few). I have the translucent color and use it as a base under my other MMU since it doesn't have a lot of coverage. Because of its high zinc content, it is also recommended to be used as a healing aid to irritated skin, so that is why I will use it along w/ another MMU.
The other MMU I use is Jane Iredale's Amazing Base. Very nice feel to it, very smooth in texture and it does provide nice coverage (lots of colors to choose from, too) It has a SPF of 20, which isn't bad. More ing than the 302 one, but not any nasties. Another nice MMU which I have some samples of and plan to get a larger size is Everyday Minerals. What is nice about Everyday Minerals are the samples.
If you want to use a liquid mineral SS, look intyo Cliniques City Block SPF 25. Not a lot of sheen to Clinique's, but a powder MMU will def give you less sheen than a liquid - esp the brands I mentioned.
BTW- I think you can pick up the JI here at EDS. |

The CP serum soaks in realatively quick. I like to give it a few mins to do that before applying makeup. And if I use emu oil, then I wait a little longer. |

Thank you Foxe,
I also wear JI mmu and like it very much. I've been using the NIA24 sunscreen, which I think is quite effective, but it always feels a little greasy on my skin.
BTW, got my CP's from eds today! I ended up purchasing Skin Biology's CP serum, Exfol serum, and Sebum Be Gone. Probably need to read a bit more on how to use them correctly! |

That sounds great! You got some good stuff. Just take it easy in the beginning. I started out by diluting the CP Serum for the first few weeks and never saw any of the 'uglies'. I would occasionally see some of those uglies when I stepped up to a stronger CP - and it was usually around my eyes (used diff CPs for that area). Just go slow and you should be fine.
I would use the Exfol at night and the CP Serum in the AM (you can do the opposite too). OR - you can alternate these at night if you want. Just work it into your routine however you see fit. Give the Exfol about 20-30 mins to work before putting anything else on it and use it on clean skin. Try to use a cleanser that has a pH close to the Exfol serum (which is about 3.2) and not a highly akaline one. This will help the exfol serum to work better. The CPs only need about 10 mins to absorb. |

Thanks again, Foxe. I think I purchased the most basic of the copper peptides since this will be a new experience for my skin. I do want to start slowly and avoid the "Uglies" -- had enough of those already!!
I will be incorporating the cp's with my current regimen of retin a. I started using RA in April and want to continue with it.
You may have already answered this question, but how long did you use cp's before you saw positive results? I know these things take time, but I'm trying to put together my BEST antiaging plan!! Thanks again for your help! |
