Hi I am new to posting, but I do lurk a lot. I have learned so much from just reading the different posts. First let me apologize if this is a double post or triple even. This is the third time that I have tried to write this, and in the two previous times, I somehow lost the posts before finishing. I doubt if this is a duplicate though. I think my computer just ate the first two. But just in case, I'm sorry.
I have read about a lot of great eye moisurizers on here with SPF, but I haven't been able to find anything on just a plain old sunscreen for the eyes that you use over eye moisturizer. I really like my eye moisturizer and would like to keep it, if possible. Where I live, there is sun and dry heat about 99 percent of the time and sunscreen is essential. Perhaps especially so for me as I am pretty fair-skinned. My skin is mostly in the normal to combo range. If I spend any real time in the sun, I bump up my SPF, but for driving, walking indoors from parking lots etc, I use DDF Matte SPF15 on my face. I don't know if I should or could use it around my eyes or not. My skin can be a bit sensitive to sunscreens, but the DDF seems to be working so far on the rest of my face. I have read some great reviews here on the DDF eye moisturizer and sunscreen SPF 15, but again that is a moisturizer and sunscreen combined. I don't know if I could or should layer it or a similar product over my regular eye cream. I would like an eye sunscreen that I could over my moisturizer and use all around the eye and not just in the orbital area if possible. Are there good sunscreens for the eyes out there that I could use over my normal everyday eye cream? If all this rambling hasn't convinced you that I am lost on the subject, let me assure you that I am lost. Completly lost. |

I usually use my regular sunscreen around my eyes as they are not very sensitive. However, when I go to the beach I have used Kiehl's Ultra Moisturizing Eye Stick SPF #30. This is also great for the lips and nose. Kiehl's also makes a moisturizing eye gel with SPF 15.

Thanks for the advice. I used Kiehl's ultra facial moisturizer SPF15 for years and put it around my eyes as well as the rest of my face, but I lost that when I switched moisturizers. I don't think that I even knew Kiehls had a sunscreen stick for the eyes though. Thanks a lot. I'll check it out right away. |

I use Skinceuticals Sun Defense Factor 20 over my eye cream. It works well, does not get greasy and doesn't burn the eyes.
Also, I use Jane Iredale makeup which has zinc oxide as a physical sunblock. The Bare Minerals may also have those type ingredients, but I'm not sure.

Winnie, Gaby and Judy thank you all very much for the input. For some reason I seem to struggle with finding and being able to use products for my eyes. All information is sooo helpful to me. I will definitely look at Skinceuticals as soon as I can. I realized last night that I already owned a Kiehls eye gel moisturizer with SPF 15, but kept it in my under the counter stash of stuff that I don't use at the moment. I am not sure why I put it there, but my results today are probably a big clue. I used it this morning and half an hour or so later my eye began to burn. I'm not certain if it was the eye gel or maybe my Skinceuticals C+E running into my eyes that caused the burning, but I am guessing the Kiehls since the C and E doesn't usually cause burning. If the Skinceuticals sunscreen works for me and I am able to put it over my moisturizer, I will be thrilled. |

I am in love with the sample I got of the Murad Essential-C Eye Cream with SPF15. It's not just a sunscreen like you were asking for, but because of how it absorbs so completely I imagine you could easily put this under your regular moisturizer, though because of its texture - unlike anything else I've tried, almost a dry cream if you can imagine that - I don't know how well it would go OVER your moisturizer.
(update: not so in love with the full size that I bought, it does seem to slide into and make my eyes tear, unless I very carefully keep it well away from my eye... what's the point then? Instead I've just been carefully applying my Murad spf 30 near but not too close to my eyes, and that's been working very well for weeks now). |

I know that my local Sephora store carries Murad so I'll probably start by trying that one. It is nice because with Sephora if a product doesn't work for you, provided it is in a reasonable amount of time, they will do a refund or exchange which is really wonderful. I am not aware of anywhere, except online, to get Skinceuticals, but I will be looking into finding or ordering it as well. And not just as sunscreen for my eyes anymore either. My newest attempt into facial sunscreen was the one I mentioned above, the DDF Matte 15. It really did get fairly matte, which I liked a lot, but today I have 3 outbreaks of cystic acne. Considering that my skin stays pretty stable and seldom breaks out anymore, I have not been a happy camper today. My skin runs in the normal to dry range, but I still have the large pores from when I was a teenager and had more oil and absolutely tons of acne. I don't know, maybe the DDF got trapped in some pores and caused the cystic acne and swelling. Not much of a theory, but it is the only one I have at the moment. I really wanted to find a a nice facial and eye sunscreen, and although the DDF caused the cystic acne-one of the worst results I have had from a sunscreen yet-my skin always reacts in some way. I tend to breakout, or at the least get really blotchy and oily looking no matter what I have tried so far. It gets so darned frustrating. Why sunscreen is the hurdle I can't seem to get over is a mystery to me. I live where there is tons of sun and I want to use sunscreen on my face, but to date, all those that I have tried pretty much hate me.
Winnie: The were out of the eye stick sunscreen at the Kiehls site you gave me, but I made a call and found out that Nordstroms carries it. I am definitely going to buy it in the next few days. No matter what facial sunscreen I finally settle on,--provided one exists that I can use-- , I will want a product especially for the eyes also at least part of the time. I am going to check out the brands everyone has been nice enough to recommend to me here and see how they work for me, but I like the thought of the stick that I can leave in my purse or stick in a pocket and just go when I need to go without a lot of planning. Thanks for the info about the product. As many times as I have looked at Kiehls, I didn't realize that they had a stick sunblock for the eyes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to use it without having problems. |

I have to thank you so much for your recommending Kiehl's Ultra Moisturizing Eye Stick SPF #30. My eyes have not been tolerant at all on eye products with SPF that I have been trying. I suppose that doesn't surprise me, because they aren't tolerant of eye creams without SPF either. After much trial and error with a number of products, this is the only eye product with SPF that I have been able to use. My eyes burn so easily. Even the Kiehls SPF #15 burned oddly enough since they are from the same company. This stick is so easy to use also and works on me. I am using it over my eyecream and thrilled to have it.
I haven't tried this one yet, but the Skinceuticals Ultimate SPF30 that Mabsy recommended is the last one that I will probably give a whirl in the near future since Skinceuticals has been good to me product-wise so far. Maybe I'll get very lucky there too and then have two whole eye products with SPF that my eyes can tolerate. Hope springs eternal. Now if I can just come up with the perfect regular eye cream for my needs, I would be one very very happy lady.
Thanks again for the recommendations, advice, and help everyone. |

Too me this is more of an eye sunscreen than an eyecream with SPF. It is super easy especially if you are on the run. My fav thing is that I can use whichever eye cream I feel like during the day and then slide this little stick over the lines under my eyes and all around my eyes for that matter and go. I can't use most of the wonderful eye creams with SPF that everyone loves because they irritate my eyes, but I don't think this is really that kind of product even though it does have moisture and slides easily without pulling at your eyes as most stick type sunscreens do. Actually now that I think of it, it might be perfect for someone young with no lines etc who has sensitive eyes and needs sunscreen to double as eye cream. I live where it is dry, hot, and sunny about 99 and one half percent of the time, and ten years ago I probably would have loved this alone. Wow are those a contradictory few sentences are what? I haven't had my coffee yet. But, for those of us on this forum obsessed with our products my personal thoughts are pretty basic. Even though it says moisturizing stick, I don't use it alone as an eye cream. Well except for those couple of times when I was really late and really really lazy. But it is without a doubt the best eye sunscreen that I personally have ever used and definitely worth a try.
Now I gotta find that coffee before I start to ramble anymore. |

Thank you Marella.
That sounds good nonetheless. I love my Murad Essential-C SPF15 eye cream would like to be able to use the Cellcosmet one (no spf) in the mornings too sometimes. This sounds like it would do the trick and sounds like it's nice and handy to re-apply as well! |

I am actually leaving in a few minutes for the Sephora store. I talked to them earlier and they are going to give me a sample of the Murad Essential C eye cream. I suspect it won't be much, but I will finally get to try it. I have been trying to find it at Nordstroms, but for some reason they have stopped carrying Murad products. No clue why. I hope that I get enough of a sample to get at least a few uses, but at least I will know if nothing else whether it is going to irritate my eyes. I am excited. The eye cream search seems to be always ongoing. But then even if you like one, you always need another that does something the first one doesn't. One of those infuriating and yet fun experiments. I am such a product whore. |
