I have been reading a lot on light therapy home devices (LightStim, DPL, Baby Quasar,Dermawave) and the microcurrent facial exercisers (Tua Viso, Dermal Tone) and facial exercises (Eva Fraser, Shape-your-face com, Flex-Away).
Has anyone tried them all?! Or has some good comparison advice?
I have been doing facial exercises for 5 years (did an one-to-one course with Eva Fraser herself) and have managed to retain my face shape and be relatively wrinkle-free ....that is until now. It's only subtle but I've noticed changes - which I hear is how it goes once you reach your forties.
I've read many discussions on all the individual products but nothing that compares them all.
Would appreciate only non-bias opinions pls (have noticed some distinctly retail-like "opinions" on some discussions). |

Welcome, TiMiranda!
I was new a few months ago and found this site overwhelming. It takes a few visits to feel oriented.
I wasn't doing exercises and I didn't have any devices when I started hanging out here. EDS can do damage to your credit card (if you let it). But I figure that the money I've spent here has saved me money on the professional maintenance I was getting.
I did a little bit of research right away and bought the baby quasar (a deal on ebay). Wow! I noticed results right away. Now the changes seem more subtle, but still a worthwhile investment. Is the baby q better than any of the other devices I could have gotten? I don't know, but if you keep reading, you'll run across people who have tried multiple devices and have strong opinions. And also people who rave about devices that others hate. There's no one-size-fits-all in this business.
Exercises: I started with LouLou's Ageless (only $10) a short time after I got the LED and saw more amazing results -- which I attribute to the exercises rather than the LED because they're distinctly different (muscles vs skin tone/tightening). I still do Ageless but a month or so ago acquired Flex Effect, which I am also doing. I'm not sure how much additional benefit I'm getting from the FE but I like the exercises and am sticking with it for now.
It is hard sometimes to sort the hype from the honest opinions, but you can click on a profile if you have concerns. If you see that someone has only posted on a certain topic or in favor of a particular product, that can be a clue that the poster is a shill rather than another confused searcher. |

Hi Miranda - It depends upon what you want to
improve to determine which works best.
Facial exercises are great for lifting and they do help with sag and wrinkling. Know it may sound crazy but the sag is what caused some of my wrinkles because when I started with the Tua Viso for muscle stimulation and the sag improved, my wrinkles improved. The LED light therapy is good for evening skin tone, may tighten skin a little and fades age spots.
The different tools do different things and if you follow these forums long enough, you'll have a big credit card bill! DiPhx |

Hi Hermosa, thank you for your reply. With regards to light therapy products, I'm swaying towards the Baby Q. Have you noticed a change in plumpness in your cheeks? What exactly were the immediate results? |

I noticed tightening. My cheeks are more defined now, but I attribute that to the exercise as Ageless is very cheek-focused.
I don't think I have plump cheek genes (my kids don't have plump cheeks either) so I don't expect to get there without artificial enhancements.
Oh -- also worth investigating (if you haven't already) is the whole diet/supplement area. I have always been very nutrition-conscious, but what I have learned on EDS has motivated me to start taking extra C, MSM, biotin, hyaluronic acid, alpha lipoic acid. Sounds a little crazy but fortunately, supplements are cheap. I have also stopped wearing lipstick (and I was a lipstick addict) which has helped tremendously.
Should be a new thread topic: "how EDS has changed my life." |

What does that help with? |

Just my stream-of-consciousness rambling. I started to go off on a tangent and then stopped. |

Miranda, did you get a Baby Q? I read an article recently that said that amber lights are really the way to go, that they build collagen faster, and that they help sagging skin. I guess the red leds work, but they take longer, and they are more effective for pain management. (However, looking at Hermosa's reply, it seems she got results fairly quickly.) I, myself, have a red led device, but I am getting an amber one and will alternate. So, my advice would be to get an AALS if you haven't already bought the Baby Q. And I will look for that article and post it.
I think it depends on what you want done. I think most people on this forum that have aging concerns use a combination of the light and FE or microcurrent.

I think there are some threads that might fit the bill.

Can you provide the name of that article you read, and/or a link to it? I would be interested in reading it. |

Hi Hyacynthgirl,
No I haven't bought any LED yet. Having begun the Ageless routine myself, I think Hermosa's cheek results will have been influenced by that and not just the Baby Q. Also you're right about the amber lights - there's a very good LED called Omnilux Nu-U (which is British-made so easy to buy over here in London) which alternates between red-light only then ultrared only. However this company are now looking into the amber light with possible thoughts of incorporating them. So yes, amber lights along with facial exercise are the way to go and I'm waiting for payday to place my order for an AALS!
M
ps I'm also use a Tua Viso (microcurrent) which I'm beginning to think is a waste of time. |
