I have used Glycolic Acid 30% about 4 times now. I leave it on for 5-6 mins each time.
Does anyone have any experience of longterm use of this product? I am concerned about thinning of the skin.
Thanks. |

Skin will not thin. There is a drop off point. If there are no skin cells to shed, new ones won't be shed. I would be concerned though of using a glycolic acid over 10%. Its just too hard on the skin. And the dryness that comes with it. |

Thanks very much for your reply. I will bear in mind what you say about the strength of it. |

your skin may not thin NOW, but there is some evidence that your skin can only renew itself so many times. If you speed up the rate of renewal, you will get to the point where it stops renewing quicker.
You should always give your skin long rests between courses of BHA/aha peels.
Also watch the timing |

Understood! I think thats really what I was thinking about. It was recommended to use the peel once a week for 6 weeks and then have a month or so off, but I really think personally 6 weeks in a row sounds too much for me and I will space it out a lot more.

Quapagirl - Does that mean we have to take breaks after using it for a while? I've read the similar "warning" somewhere else. I have been using a 10% glycol acid cleanser for about 3 months now, and I absolutely love it. |

Well on the skinbiology forum the Dr there recommends taking breaks if you use high concentrations, but says that lower % are ok for regular use. I would have thought that 10% is probably OK, but after my last 50% gly peel that went horribly wrong, I'm VERY cautious about using any AHA (should add it was a home peel and I messed up the timing...still not gonna repeat it though!) |
