I've only been using Retin A for about 5 months, every other night, but I seem to have these blue veins that are appearing on my face. I'm not really sure if they're broken caps or if my skin is thinning from using the Retin A and some veins are showing through. I was just wondering if it is the Retin A that is causing this, does anyone know? TIA

jom, there are different thoughts on this. Some derms say it does not and that Retin A can actually help with broken caps, but then some say it does. All I can tell you is that I did not have broken caps before I started Nu Derm, but I developed them while using those products. The nurse that I went to definitely thinks Retin A causes broken caps. Sadly, there really isn't anything topical that will "fix" them either.

Darn! Sad I didn't have these blue veins before I started with the Retin A so I know that must be the cause. I was hoping just stopping the Retin A would make them go away. I'll probably have to have IPL or V beam to make them go away.

Hey, jom. I didn't catch that you said blue veins before. My broken caps (veins) are red and thready looking. Very tiny, but they can make your face look red if you have a ton of them. Are you sure what you have are broken caps? (Maybe they look different on different skin tone? I am not sure about this! Laughing)

I have some red veins under my nose which I think would fall under the broken caps category or maybe broken blood vessels (is that the same thing?). But these new veins are blue, they're on both sides of my face under the cheekbone toward the fron of my face. Is that something else?

I am not sure, jom. I thought that all broken caps on the face were red! I have some on the side of my nose and some on my cheeks and they are red. Maybe try googling and seeing if you can find anything that looks like what you have? (If you do have them, there is nothing topical that will fix them. There are things that you can use that will make them less noticeable, but that is all the topical can do. The LED plus the 302 products were really helping mine, but then I stopped the LED and started using the ultrasound and have had no further improvement in them.)
