Castor Oil is deep cleansing and gets deep
into the pores to clean them out. Jojoba tends to work as well because it is very similar to the sebum in the skin! Any good massage with the above will give you the double benefit you are looking for!

thank you, angel. i'm glad you understand me, cuz sometimes i don't.
just like your bellalina link, i comprised a whole dvd of facial massages and various techniques. weeks and weeks of work. i'm slowly learning them and will try to come up with a compressed super charged facial that will erase all blackheads and all wrinkles, and take off years. then i'll look like this!

That is a perfect pic BabyDoll! Your DVD sounds like a great idea, you can start your own facial exercise line!

right now i use the valmont magic oil, but i'm sure i could add a couple of drops of castor oil or jojoba oil during my facial massage. and the facial massage really isn't that much different from OCM... just have to add in a couple more steps.
that picture looks like me! i swear! |

You could just try a few drops of Castor Oil in your palm and blend with your oils you own and see how they work out for you, that way you don't ruin your whole bottle of oil if you just really don't care for the Castor Oil!
I love your picture BabyDoll!

yes, thank you, angel. i'll have to do some dabbing and fiddling with that castor oil. i don't know why i'm so hung up on the word "castor"... maybe i'll put a sticky label on it with "love potion" written on it. yes, i know i have problems... i was born this way!
yah i look kinda cute in that pic, eh?! though that angle doesn't do my lips justice! |

I am sure that pic was taken before your quest for those plump and sexy lips!

Yes, oil will flush out the blackheads, don't use mineral oil though as it clogs. Why not use Queen Helen Mint Mask to suck up the oil after you are all done and also try a exfoliating micro scrub (estee lauder or biore warming) to start "sanding down" the top layer of skin daily to get down to the good skin. Be gentle or you will end up red and peely and pock faced. If you are really bad, go for professional dermabrasion to remove craters. |

Most never use Mineral Oil I know I won't touch it. The process of OCM uses the heat to open the pores and help remove the impurities in your skin, and repeated with a hot cloth until all oil is removed along with the same.

Somewhat but because it has a foaming agent I wouldn't massage as long with it! |

Thanks for sharing! It seems "steam face" is a important step. I tried jojoba oil many times before, hoping to clean blackheads on my nose. Although I massaged for a long time, nothing changed.
Now, after I saw your post, I may know the reason why it does not work. Because I did not steam face... |

That is a really important part of clearing out the pores. |

Instead of massaging the oil, can you use a sonic dermabrasion brush to work it in? I have seen the Pretika SonicDermabrasion® High Frequency Facial Cleansing Brush on the NCN website, it's like the Clarisonic but less expensive. It has a microfiber brush head. |

I thought the oil has to be the emulsifying kind in order to work? I use Shu Uemura and a foaming wash after, and my face is really much smoother than if I had not used a cleansing oil. But skip it for a day or 2 and the whiteheads start building up again. |

Oil cleanses Oil (like attracting like) I have used this method as have many others for years and a good natural oil works beautifully, adding some Castor oil is best, but some either have a difficult time finding it or just have their own reason for avoiding it. Castor Oil really gets deep into the pores and removes what's clogging them.

You could certainly try it and see how you like it. I know a few members gave it a shot with the clarisonic, but I am not sure they stuck with it or not. |

I've googled a bit on the benefits of using castor oil to treat a variety of ailments. But what about the toxicity of ricin. Any cause for concern here? |

The only concern with it is for those who harvest or process if proper precautions aren't taken. I always purchase organic cold pressed Castor Oil. |

Thanks
Will try to get my hands on a bottle and compare it with commercial cleansing oils.
I did however read about how it helped someone with a bad backache and if it doesn't work for my skin I can always use it for my partner's bad back |

LOL Aside from being a purgative (laxative) taken internally it is used as a compress for aches and pains with a compress. |

I've always had clogged pores. even after 3 months from using obagi and retinA.
It sure made my pores a tiny bit smaller but didn't clear them. I still had the black dots way inside my pores wich made my face look like I have a lot of facial hair and my big nose look even bigger .
Until I read a thread here at EDS about facial dry brushing. I started dry brushing morning and evening and those pores cleared in a matter of days. Now it's even much easier to squeeze them (sanitized hands and face of course) but I just touch my nose and they start coming out just like at the spa after 20 minutes of steam
At this point only should I think castor oil or sebum be gone can work on my pores.
I also heard that derma rolling gets rid of large pores but haven't gotten mine yet |

I found castor oil to be a bit drying for my skin (ironically enough) using this method, so I had to experiment with different mixtures to get the deep cleaning benefit of the castor oil while minimizing the drying effects. I use about 25% castor oil, 75% jojoba oil. |

marnie,
That is somewhat common Castor oil is known as a "drying" oil because it is purgative. Many use a lower % of Castor oil than 50% especially those with dryer skin. It also depends on how your own skin reacts I have normal skin and am fine with a 50/50 mix. It comes down to trial and error to find your perfect mixture in the beginning. |
