I just copied this (took forever but it wasn't posted anywhere) from the LEF magazine October issue. http://www.middle-ageless.com/2009/09/how-estriol-gets-rid-of-wrinkles.html
It is really interesting reading. Lots of studies quoted and significant effects of using topical estrogens (including estriol). They never helped my arms, but perhaps with the PurCellin in Bio-Oil they would (?) |

Hi Cookie,
No, it was a huge article on Bio Hormones. They do have an estriol containing product though: http://www.lef.org/Vitamins-Supplements/Item01000/New-Face-Solution.html
It contains micronized estriol but a very low amount. The stuff I have is actually for "internal" use but the doc says it can be applied externally to the skin. It is looser and less concentrated but still delivers the same amount as a regular estriol replacement therapy cream. Here's what it says: 2 mg per gram, versabase and the dose is one gram daily. I would suggest that anyone using Bio HRT estrogens ask for it to be made up in a less concentrated format (but still delivering the prescribed amount, so that it can be used as a face and neck cream. |

Antonia, I have a cream at home called Rejuvenate that I haven't opened yet, it is 3% estriol. I am going to try it this weekend. |

Dr Todorov over on his board recommends topical estriol for pore size reduction, firmness, etc. However, I faithfully applied my Bi-Est oil to my face for over a year and noticed no change whatever. It wasn't a problem with the product, because my hormone levels were being monitored throughout and the product was definitely potent. |

Hi Cookie, I would definitely try it. Who makes it? Justine, I faithfully applied estriol to my arms and had no change at all. I have a feeling it may be better used preventively. I did check on these reported studies and all were independent and peer reviewed. I would love to know the excipient used with the estriol. |

Antonia, it is by Biogenesis Nutraceuticals. It is in a base of water, MSM, sunflower oil, chamomile extract, Vit. A,D,E, Glycerol monostearate, Germaben, Essential oil, lavender, cedar. It sounds pretty good. |

Cookie - I am assuming Your product is a RX. I saw estriol on ADC and I think it was a 3%. |

Just a caution for women who start using products with estrogen (estriol/estradiol). A lot of women are estrogen dominant already, especially during the peri-menopause and menopausal years. If our hormones aren't balanced, that's when we start seeing the "weird" stuff we experience with aging. I would suggest getting your hormone levels checked first before experimenting with hormone substances. Remember, topicals get absorbed into your system, too. Just IMHO. |

Amen, sister! BHRT is not just a beauty treatment. Your estrogen levels can rocket with excess BHRT, especially if you are not post-menopausal. Progesterone is given to women in their 30s, so that is probably not harmful. |

Good point, Justine. Definitely don't use estrogens purely as a beauty treatment. However, if you are using the cream after having your hormones checked, it may make sense to apply it over wrinkled areas as opposed to the forearm (where one is usually advised to apply it.) |

Estrogen dominance is a counter intuitive phrase. It was coined by John Lee and means estrogen levels RELATIVE to progesterone. You can be estrogen deficient and still have estrogen dominance. And estrogen mimics are not the same as physiologic. You still may be low in real estrogen even if exposed to estrogen mimics. I wish I could remember where I was recently reading about the confusion he created with this term but I can't. However you can see this:

I have POF so I would be very interested in trying the cream, and its available from ADC. I think I could get by using very little- only around my eyes. I might ask my dermatologist about it, but I don't see nay harm in using it since I am POF (but am on birth control right now as a form of HRT). And no one worry, I wouldn't mind at all asking my primary care doctor to run a day 3 on me, and I know exactly how to read FSH, p4 and e2 levels even without his help. |
