By cleanser do you mean shampoo or a clarifier to remove all the build-up?
I actually do conditioner washing now and find my scalp is allot less itchy since I stopped using shampoo.
Once a week I use a rinse made from 2 tbsps of Apple Cider Vinegar in a cup of water - this gets rid of any product build-up and leaves the hair nice and shiny. |

You might wanna try Rene Furterer Astera Soothing Shampoo or RENE FURTERER
Astera No Rinse Soothing Serum - Sensitive & Irritated Scalp. I use the serum once in a while if I have a irritated scalp. It gives a cool sensation after using it. You might wanna give it a try. It is a little cheaper than valmont. |

The name states it's a cleanser, you put it on dry hair first, massage it into the sculp and then add water to make a rich lather and wash it off. So, yes, I use it like a shampoo.
I cant imagine washing hair with just conditioner I've done it a few times and the hair looks awfully dirty. I dont use any styling products.
Apple Cider Vinegar rinse is nice, but it does not treat my sculp.
samplelover, I'll check it out! Valmont hair products have beeen working nice, but the price bites my wallet! |

Conditioner washing actually has a bit of a cult following, like Oil Cleansing Method - it's very popular. If you Google it you'll find masses of information.
The premise is that you don't need the cleansing agents that are in shampoos, they strip your hair. Conditioner grabs on to the grease and dirt and cleanses your hair just as well. There is supposed to be an initial breaking in period whilst your hair gets used to it - but I didn't find this at all.
Also, have a look on the Forum because there are also some informative threads about it here.
I should add that I have very fine hair that gets very greasy. I've had no problem at all in just using the conditioner. |

Keliu, which conditioner do you use? I also have very fine thin hair and some heavy conditioners make it look even worse. |

I tried CO washings and I didn't like it. My hair is fine and I need to wash it every day (I also exercise every day, so I don't have a choice). After conditioner ( I use cone-free conditioner like Suave or Vo5) my hair become oily, even if it wasn't oily before washing. Another issue is that my scalp is itching if I don't use shampoo and only use conditioner.
I have long hair and I wash my hair every day, I put conditioner on my hair, then I wash with shampoo, them I put conditioner again and rinse (CWC method).
I like Suave Green Apple shampoo, it is cone-free, smells very good, and my scalp doesn't each after use. Vo5 shampoos are also great, they cheap, but do their job.
I also like Valmont hair product, but it is too expensive. |

May I recommend Sage (sorry I cannot memorize the whole name)shampoo by AESOP, or Apple cider shampoo by Frederick Fekkai, both of them work for my itchy scalp issues. |

I agree, I've found Neutrogena's T-gel shampoo to be very effective in dealing with itching. The only other things I've found that work are all from the dermatologist... if you talk to your derm he/she will likely be able to prescribed either a shampoo or a mousse-like treatment that will deal with the itching. Good luck! |
