Hi everyone,
I have just started taking some supplements from reading here what alot of you gals are taking. Anyway, I tried l-carnosine yesterday, it's the high strength formula from Jarrow, and this morning I woke up feeling really sickly with a bad headache. I have tried carnosine in the past (different brand), but just felt bloated from it.
Has anyone experienced this sort of thing from carnosine ?
Another q, does alpha lipoic acid have to be taken with biotin? I read a post somewhere that someone felt quite run down from it until they added biotin,
many many thanks for all your help

Don't know anything about carnosine but YES! Alpha Lipoic Acid should be taken with Biotin as it depletes it otherwise! |

thanks for your reply mountaingirl. The carnosine capsules are 500 mg, and I took 2 - maybe this was too high a dose to start with.
Out of interest, what is the average dose people take for anti agin benefits ?
many thanks

I take carnosine in a powder form (from Dr. Marshall's PR Labs), 1/4 tsp in the morning. Have no adverse reaction.

I'm interested in where to get the powdered Carnosine.... In my experience powders tend to be better absorbed, more effective and less expensive |

Taking normal levels of carnitine does not lead you to experience unpleasant side effects. However, you may be able to experience having too much energy when taking them, and if you take them later during the day, you might have difficulties falling asleep. These side effects are not really reason for concern in many people, as they are mostly mild to moderate, and easy to deal with.
Some reported L-carnitine side effects include vomiting, nausea, headache, diarrhea, stuffy nose, restlessness and sleeping difficulty. Some serious side effects may include fast heartbeat rates, increase in your blood pressure and fever. |

I also got headaches from the carnitine. I was taking one capsule a day. I'm extremely prone to migraines though, and many supplements will cause one for me. |

Are we talking about L-Carnitine or L-Carnosine? |
