Yesterday my car airbag went off so now I have a swollen/split lip and a friction burn on the left half of my face. It's not a severe injury, there's red, irritated skin and tiny white bumps. I'm trying to figure out the best way to soothe and heal this.

Vaseline/Auquaphor or Neosporen is the best way to protect it in it's beginning healing stages. Skin loves to grow in warm moist environment. You also don't want any bacteria getting in there so start off with the Neosporin till it isn'to pen and sore, this will make sure that no infection can get into the open parts. Then go into the Auquaphor/Vaseline to have the skin moist so that it will scab over nicely. So use that generously till it starts to scab over.

Once all the skin is healed and scabbed over and it is looking really good however you can see that it is still not completely healed I would consistently keep applying a jojoba w/ chamomile combo on it to keep it calm and naturally moist to keep the area from scarring.

I am not a professional however, this is what I use on alot of my boo boo's or whatever and it seems to do the trick well!

I can agree that 'wet" dressings help skin to heal faster. Some people are allergic to neosporin.. In that case Vasaline makes a MILD antimicrobial ointment-or plain white petroleum gel will do fine.. Gentle cleanning and keep coated..A scab should not form in this enviroment-so when it has stopped oozing and is a red tender spot- try copper peptides.. I'm not convinced of their ant ageing prperties, but I am so of their wound healing

Thanks for the advice.

I've been applying Neosporin a couple of times a day and it's looking better. And I do have some copper serum around somewhere so will apply that and emu oil later in my healing.

Cosmedix has a great product called "rescue". I have used this for windburn, post peel, etc... and it works very well.
