Hi,
I need major help. I am uni. student so buying one quality cleanser is big to me and i don't want to mess it up. My sephora doesnt carry decleor anymore so its hard to get samples.
Here are the cleansers I have used in the past:
Dr. Bradnt Pores no more
Juice Beauty Apple Cleansing Gel (current)
Dermadoctor Aint misbeavin (sample)
I am pretty content w/ the Juice Beauty; nothing miraculous, it doesnt really take off my make up tho (bareminerals + eye). I don't like dermadoctor in general and this cleanser made me feel greasy. Dr Brandt was okay in the past but I think it dried out my skin.
I am looking at Decleor GEL and FOAM and Dr. H Cleansing CREAM. Any others?
My t-zone are on a scale 1-10 around a 6 for oil and the rest of my face isnt oily. I have scars (icepick in forhead and some on cheecks) and alot of facial hair (PCOS). I get occasiaonal acne hormonally, but the big painful cyst kind that leave discolorations.
I sometimes spray Helichrysum hydrosol on (cheaper than the oil by far) and in morn use Declear hydra floral emulsion for my moisturizer (from a kit) and at night either Retin A micro w/ decleaor neroli or declear ylang baum (I dont like ylang baum, bad impulse buy and my skin isnt oily enough for it).
Sorry for the length, but please any advice on what cleanser (I am leanin towards DR. H but am skeptical of a cream) and even moisturizer and toner, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

I am using Kate Somerville's Detox Daily Cleanser. Its got Phytic Acid to help fade post acne scars and reduce inflammation. Its a nice tangerine smell. I'm loving it at the mo. |

What about Philosophy's Purity? Either the Purity or the Foaming one works!~! There are huge reviews on the purity on sephora. Great for taking off MMU and leaving the skin nice! |

Looking at the products that you had used with your skin-type. Perhaps you will like Obigi. |

harriet,
It goes to show once again no one product works on everyone, for me it isn't drying at all, and a lot of people with dry sensitive skin, even rosacea swear by it! We are all just so unique.

Daft, If you live anywhere near a Kiehl's, you should check them out because they have a huge stash of generous sized sample packets, so you can try before you buy. (I don't use their cleansers myself, so I can't give specific advice on them.)
Do you have any friends at uni that you could persuade to give you a smidge of what they use so you could try it out? I really think that, since everyone's skin reacts differently, trying something out before making the investment--particularly for a student--is the way to go if you can.
Personally, I like PSF's Green Tea Cleansing Milk, which is very gentle. |

thanks for all the input, i am less overwhelmed now. (seriously there are so many products to choose from, gotta love capitalism) I bought a Dr. H starter kit for normal/dry/sensitive skin. Ill see how that goes then check out the suggestions (I always look at review here, sephora.com, totalbeauty) thanks! |

I agree with the need to see what works for you as not only do we all have different reactions to products but our skin differs over time and with the seasons. But there are so many to choose from it's easier to have some feedback. |

Well I'll just throw in one more if the Dr. H doesn't work out. I use MD Forte facial cleanser. It is a glycolic cleanser that is excellent for improving breakouts as well as good for anti-aging purposes. They have a whole series (including a non-glycolic), but I have worked my way up to the number 2. I have liked this better than all of the other cleaners I have tried. |

Sad to say, just like men, I don't know if the perfect cleanser exists I too have combination, sensitive skin w/ oily t-zone. Ole Henriksen On the go cleanser is working really well right now, I would like to try their African Red Tea cleanser. Prior to that, Kate Somervilles Gentle Face Wash was very effective and so was Amore Pacific's Enzyme Peel. Even though it said peel, it seemed to me like it was just a really nice cleanse. I feel like I also got similar results w/ Clean & Clear's foaming face wash. Hope that helps. |
