Ok, so this is embarrassing. Now that the weather is getting colder I am not wearing my sandals as much. The first time I put socks on and wore my tennis shoes all day I got a surprise when I took my shoes off. STINK!! Ugh, I have dealt with this for many years but never found anything to really make it go away. Is that possible? Of course I can make it better with lotions, foot powders, etc. but at the end of the day the odor is always pretty bad. I love wearing sandals because they don't smell then. I can't hardly wear socks with sandals though, not exactly a good fashion statement. And it's not very feminine to have smelly feet. So, if you ladies (or gents) have any suggestions, I'm all ears. |

Feet can smell as the foot sweats and its trapped inside footwear. It is the interaction of these two factors along with bacteria that cause the smell. Feet have more sweat glands than any other part of the body, so they can sweat profusely which can not evaporate (like it can on the hands) due to being enclosed in footwear. The bacteria produce isovaleric acid which is what causes the odor.
A number of conditions can increase the chance for smelly feet, such as a sweaty foot (hyperhidrosis), stress, some drugs and hormonal changes. |

Some things you could try...
a. Wear socks that wick moisture away (i.e. polyester, wool, etc, etc.). Do not wear cotton socks.
b. Apply foot powder with a strong menthol odor both between your fingers (before putting your socks on) and in your shoes.
c. Try Klima foot spray (it's a food deodorant). I got a sample and tried it and worked really well at preventing foot odor. In fact, it was so good I ordered a full size for my brother, who has such a strong foot odor that he has to leave his running shoes outside the house. He's loving my gift |

You could maybe try spraying your feet with a 50/50 mix of water and ACV (or white or other vinegar)
Spray on after your morning shower, then let dry before putting shoes on. Works for me, although I'm not sure why |
