Hi Everyone,
I have just started taking this supplement at only 30mg a day and I have found that after an hour or so, I start to feel quicky shaky, tired and nauseous. I read on the label that ALA at high doeses can lower blood sugar and I was worried that this is what may be happening.
I've had blood tests done in the past, as I was feeling very tired, but I think the blood sugar was ok. Does anyone else experience this, and would it be safe to continue taking it ?
many thanks

I do take ALA but don't have this effect. My husband is a diabetic and again, he does not have that reaction. Are you taking it on an empty stomach. Perhaps with a small meal, containing a little protein, it might not bother you? |

Hi Marie,
thanks for your response, that is re-assuring. I'm really sensitive to supplements, so put this down to 'another' of my reactions. I just happened to read on the bottle about the blood sugar, and I immediately thought that's what it must have been.
Can I ask if you take biotin with ALA? I read somewhere that if you take over 100mg of ALA, you should add this. But again, I react a bit to B vits, like bloating and sleeping really heavy.
sorry to ramble, but I'd really like to take this supplement,
thanks
