Do you mean lasers or IPL? What problems do you want to deal with? For redness, broken capillaries or sun damage, IPL is what is used. It can take a number of treatments, 5 on average for rosacea, for example, but it works well. |

Hi Shelley,
I have broken caps and redness. The treatment recommended for me was the IPL series (which was about 4 or 5 spaced apart treatments). The results were fabulous, but....after a year or two they came back. So, I don't know if it was just me or if this is a treatment that requires yearly maintenance to keep your results. |

i have laser facial regularly and i like the result very much, though my skin not perfect and the broken cap would appeared sometimes, my skin has been improved a lot. I will keep the treatment regularly but a little concern with any long term side effect |

IPL's are the way to go for broken caps and improved skin clarity and color. I have had a series of 4 initial and now I do a yearly maintenance as anyone prone to broken caps will tell you may be necessary. I have also had CO2 and Fraxel which did nothing. I also did a 5 series of Cool Touch which was a waste of money and time. |

I only received laser treatment for a few sun spots and it worked well after only 1 treatment. |

There are so very many lasers and even different kinds of IPL treatments. So you need to do some research as to what works best for your particular issues. As well as a number of IPL treatments ofor redness, I also had erbium-yag a few times. It was painful, expensive and the week-long post-op was not pleasant. It definitely reduced lines and gave my skin a better texture. |

I've had erbium yag laser about 10 years ago and it was great for removing sleep lines. But yes the downtime sucks. And it took many months for the redness to go away. |

Has anyone had a series of IPL in either Toronto or Vancouver? I need a recommendation of a doctor. My issue is facial redness (mild) and occasional flushing. |

Shelley, if the veins are quite visible and there are not a lot of them, V Beam is usually used. It is also used in cases of severe rosacea. IPL is better for mild rosacea or facial redness. It tends to take more treatments than V beam but the downtime is less with IPL. I have had a few V beams but I can't handle it anymore- my whole face goes puffy and stays that way for a week, I look like a monster. Mind you I had my whole cheeks done. If you just have a few large broken blood vessels there should be no puffiness. |
