Hi everyone,

Basically I can't seem to get smooth legs. I tried waxing my own legs a few times in the past but there were still always tiny tiny hairs left. I figured that maybe these hairs had grown back slower or something so I decided to not do any hair removal on my legs until every last hair on my legs had grown in, so I left them for about 3 months. I got my legs waxed professionally yesterday thinking that since all my hairs would have grown in by now that they would be completely smooth but I was disappointed to find that again I have the tiniest hairs left and feel a bit prickly. I mean there's no way that after waiting 3 moths some hairs are just breaking through the skin now. I'm not sure if maybe my hair snaps easily in every day life before I get it waxed, or if it snaps during waxing and doesn't get removed from the root. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem, if it's a case of a bad salon who doesn't do it right or if it's just my hair:( Thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks.

Clarebear from what I have read each hair has around a 3 month cycle but each hair is on its own schedule. The problem this creates is the hair that is at the end of its life cycle say week 2 or 3 of your 3 month grow out falls out and begins anew.
You might want to consider an epilator of some kind so you can "spot treat" bet'n waxing.

Ahh so effectively some hairs have been left too long and fallen out themselves and that's them just growing in now. Do you think if I wait until the waxed hairs grow back in and then get them waxed that all my hairs will still be there to come out? Because that would only be about 4 weeks from now so the ones that are prickly at the moment might not have fallen out by then.

Exactly - you described that better than I did. Laughing
That would be a good plan of action; you might have to do that cycle more than once. Ask the cosmetician what they think.

How do you bear waxing your legs? I couldn't do it. I get bikini waxed ok, but legs were just so painful! maybe it's cause I've been shaving them so many years now, but that was just awful. And I bought an epilator, and I cannot do it - too painful. Did you ever try underarms wax? Oh now that is painful - I was walking like a bird - arms out half a day. Smile

Hi there - I had same problem in the past till I started to use epilady . I am using it for 15 years already and my legs are always very smooth and actually now I don't have too much hair... All it takes is once a week 10 min and sometimes a bit of scrubbing of the knee .
That is one of the best gadgets I ever used ..Oh well , If I would be in my 30s (lol or younger Wink ) maybe I could try the laser but now I am not so sure that it worse. You can do bikini area and under arm as well but still I don't like it and there I apply wax and try to maintain it with the machine sometime...( or shave that is not the best ...)
Ok so the link is http://www.fabove.ca/epilady.html?gclid=CNbGhdjqzp0CFR4HagodMSHUsA

There are other similar machines on the market but epilady was the original one and I really like it .

I was stunned at how painful the epilator was on my legs Shock. I started using something called biofreeze. This numbs the area - I am sure the biofreeze people (if they saw this) would freak-out because this is not the intended use but hey a girls' gotta do what a girls' gotta do Laughing

I've never had my bikii line or underarms done but I alwasy imagined it'd be more painful. I think maybe the reason I find it okay on my legs is because I've waxed them myself in the past. I also used to use an epilator but I've still always had the problem of little hairs being left behind. I'll just allow the hairs I got waxed last time to grow in, then get them waxed and hope theres less baby ones left!
