I'm hoping for some info here. I've been buying this stuff for a while but I have been reading on the boards that it should be clear colored and not golden colored? I've bought the big bottles and have gotten samples and they have always been golden. |

All the Skinceutical C's that I have bought have been pretty clear. You're usually ok if it turns to a light champagne color, but golden to me sounds dark, which is no good! |

I have to agree with Riley, in most cases unless there is an ingredient that is naturally orange or brown it should be as close to clear as possible, brown indicates that it has oxidized.

Yes, it should be pretty clear. I have bought sample packs of SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic a couple of times, and the serum in all the vials had a slight champagne color. Then I switched to SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF. It is as clear as water and stays that way long enough for me to use it up. The stability of the serum is on of the reasons why I prefer SC Phloretin CF to SC CE Ferulic. |

so could using vitamin c that is bad cause skin damage. Any way to reverse it? Now I'm afraid that by using oxidated Vit C I caused my skin to sag. I have another post about my forehead drooping/sagging due to stress, but now I'm thinking using the rancid Vitamin C could have done more damage. Any advice? |

Vitamin C once it oxidizes creates more free radicals instead of fighting them! That is the simplistic answer but true, once oxidized it is bad for your skin, either switch brands, make a simple DIY recipe in small batches or just buy crystals and add to a serum or water based moisturizer fresh for each application. I prefer the last option, but that's just me.

PS your skin should improve once you stop the oxidized stuff and start with a good brand! |

I use SkinCeuticals when I go on vacation because the DIY Vit C serums (which I prefer) would go bad while I am away. I have not had any problems with their products. SkinCeuticals is a good brand of products. Their CE Ferlic has always been clear. Where are you buying them? Perhaps they are selling outdated products. |

I apologize, I should have phrased that better, I didn't intend to knock the brand! Not knowing where you purchased from, you may very well have received products that are old and therefore have oxidized!
My bad choice of wording! I have purchased products from skincentuals with no problem, just not C serum. Many on the forum use the C and it is fine according to the reviews.

thanks. I just want to make sure that I have not done permanent damage to my skin by using oxidized Vit C. I was purchasing the product at a spa that sells skinceuticals. I just assumed Vit C was supposed to be an orangy color since I am used to seeing oranges, orange juice etc and its a yellow color. So I never questioned that I was using bad stuff. I wanted to start taking better care of my skin now that I am 30 and didnt know which products to start using and I was told at the spa to start using Vit C serums so I did.
So using a better Vitamin C will help correct any damage? I've been reading the boards and it seems that Cellex C is the most stable. Is this the agreement around here? How about Dr. Perricone stuff with Vitamin C ester? Gosh, all this is so new to me, I'm not sure what any of these products are. Still learnin'. |

Cellex C and Skinceuticals were actually conceived by the same doctor. Both are very good brands. I would recommend you check the expiry dates before you buy them. If it is oxidized take it back to the spa you bought it from.
Have you thought of making your own? There are lots of recipes on this site for Vitamin C Serum. If you make your own you are assured it is fresh as you can make it every couple of days if you wish. |

I have been using the SkinCeuticals Vitamin C serums for quite a few years. I use the CE + Ferulic. I order directly from SkinCeuticals and it is always clear. They usually turn dark yellow/orangy after 3 months.
There has never been any expiration dates on any of the SkinCeuticals products or their boxes (and I have been ordering SkinCeuticals for 5 years now). When I receive them, I usually right in black marker on them the date I received them, so I know how old they are as time goes on. |

Where did you purchase it from, if they are reputable they should replace it for you!

Yes it should be fairly clear. I always pour a bit out into another dropper and put the remaining back in the fridge,I have found it to last a lot longer this way. |

allan101, there are many places that sell skinceuticals. You can check ebay, skincarerx, skinstore, etc. Just google it, and you will get a ton of places! |
