This weekend I received my rhassoul clay for making masks, unfortunately it came with no instructions. I scoured the web finding some seriously exotic recipes but wanted something simple. I decided to just add water. The mask did what I expected but I had a terrible time getting it off. Shock Rinsing with water did not take the mask off, scraping it off was the only thing that removed it.
Has anyone tried these bulk clays and if so do you have a simple ingredient list to add to the clay.
I am wondering if I need to add an oil of some kind to help get it off. Confused

Hey Alley,

I've never had problem with rhassoul being too difficult to rinse off with water. I usually just add water to the clay too though sometimes I use a hydrosol. I haven't tried this out with rhassoul personally but have you thought of using a piece of gauze first before spreading the clay? I've used that method for 'soft masks' and it's easier to remove that way. What I do is wet a piece of gauze big enough to cover my face, and then I put that on before applying the mask.

No I haven't thought of that but that is great idea. Maybe I just had too much clay on my face. Confused

Hey, I've had the same problem with rhassoul and here is what I have found helps:

Mix equal amounts of rhassoul and fullers earth before adding water or hydrosol. Fullers earth is really nice and silky and very easy to rinse off, so the two clays kind of balance each other out.

-OR-
I use just the rhassoul only before a shower, all the steam eventually softens it up. It also helps to remove it with a micro fiber cloth.

Too funny because as I was standing over the kitchen sink (yes the kitchen sink knowing the mess this was going to make) I thought I should do this just before I get in the shower!!!
