OK, so I am only 15 years old and I want to buy myself some glycolic acid 30% because i have a few dark scars on my face and i am Nigerian. Will this mess up my skin if I put it on my face? Or will it work. And for those out there don't tell me to go to the dermatologist because my mom won't let me go thanks. Smile

Hi sydney--my old lady opinion Very Happy is that 30% glycolic is rather dangerous to use without some experience with hydroxy acids. You can burn your skin with it and actually cause many more problems than you need to correct.

My advice is to see if your mom will take you to a professional esthetician (maybe for a holiday present or your birthday, etc.) so you can see while under the guidance of a trained professional how hydroxy acids work on your skin and if they are right for you. You can also ask the esthetician questions and get advice on how to care for your skin after you use the acids, because using the acid is only part of plan...you must consider sun exposure, sunscreen use, and other things if you decide to start using hydroxy acids. They're not a quick scar cure-all.

Bottom line is that 30% glycolic is definitely *not* something you should be using without adult supervision at your age. I would not recommend you use any hydroxy acid without adult supervision at this point.

Wish I could be of more help, but that's my honest opinion. I wish you luck! Smile

I am Caucasian but I was wondering if the Oprah website would have information for you as she covers skin concerns for all skin types. maybe you could email them. or a product line like Iman (if that is spelled correctly, not sure how to spell her name) HTH and I agree ....be very careful. I burned my skin a couple of times from harsh products and from what I have read one can do long lasting damage. good luck.
