Both of these fillers are made from hyaluronic acid and claim long lasting results (with a touch up). Both are specially approved for the nasolabial folds, although I know they get used off label too.
So I'm wondering is there anyone explain what the differences really are between the 2?
thanks |

From my experience I found Juvederm to be softer. I didn't get either one of them to get bigger lips all I wanted were the lines above them to disappear somewhat. They both did the job but there was no swelling with Juvederm and there was lots with Restylane. They both lasted well past a year. |

I've had both Juvaderm & Restylane. I prefer Juvaderm because Restylane was "harder" and I could feel a line of demarcation under the skin, but with Juvaderm my lines were filled and I couldn't feel anything under my skin. It was much softer. Juvaderm also seems to last longer.

I have been wondering how Sculptra compares to the fillers you have mentioned ? |

Hi, I'm wondering about Sculptra as well. I'm planning on getting it in my cheeks (to fill out my face and help to lift my marionette lines) this January but after perusing Sculptra reviews on realself.com I am having second thoughts. I asked about Juvaderm and Restylane but the doctor thought that it would cost me about the same for Sculptra and that it would last alot longer. Any feedback would be appreciated. TIA. |

My resty always lasted anywhere from 6-10 months depending on the area. I have started using the Juvaderm the last 2 years and prefer it. Softer, no lumps and it lasts up to a year for me, at the same price or sometimes cheaper if on special. |

I realize it maybe hard to tell but do you think its actually encouraging any collagen growth? |

I haven't noticed any collagen growth using Juvaderm. I wish it did |

Yes, it did actually encourage some growth, and I needed less filler each time.
I still have some restylane left. |

I have posted before that Restylane did not last even 2 days on my nasolabial area. Jevederm has lasted over a year! |

I don't think I will go back to resty, from just the bumps alone. But I also love how long the Juvaderm lasts for me. I will try Radiesse at some point too though, as my doc has been recommending trying it next year when my juvaderm fades away. He says it has more filler and lasts a bit longer, so I could use less. It all depends on the area you need to have the injection in. |

Wow, only 2 days, what a disappointment. Did your dr have any idea's why that happened?

Thats right I had forgotten about radiesse, seems like you don't hear too much about it. I was just looking at the web site, definitely seems like a good option too. |

Girliegirl: I liked the restults immediately after Restylane but it actually was the swelling! I called the doctor but she would not return the money nor would she inject some more with out additional charge! This was 2 yrs. ago and after that I went to another doc. who used Juvederm and it has lasted more than a year! I absolutely loved the results! |

Starlight - I can imagine how disappointed you must have been. Its too bad your dr was not willing to work with you. Atleast you had good luck with juvederm but its too bad you has to waste your money on the resty. |

I had good results with the resty, no bumps, but I found it didn't last long, and at one point it seemed to migrate (something I was told could not happen) down to my jaw. It wasn't really attractive and it seemed like a waste of money.
I had perlane, resty's big sister, a few years ago, and that seemed to work much better for me. But since I have been doing facial exercises for the last six mos, haven't felt the need to go back for more fillers. |

Did ya'll get bruising after the Juvederm injections? How long before you looked "normal?"

Yes, I bruise by the next day and it lasts a few days but I take arnica and that helps the bruising fade so much faster. But it is very minor and easily covered by makeup.
I also bruise way less with the juvaderm than restylane. |

I bruise very easily! I started taking Bromelain 1 week before the injections and I stopped taking any asprin type medications. I did not have any bruising, some redness right after the injection which could be covered up very easily with makeup. I think it also depends on the doc. just like when you get shots some nurses are quiet rough and with others you do not feel a thing. This doctor also applied a topical only, no shots or dental blocks were given, and I felt almost no pain, just a slight pinch! I have very low tolerance for pain so I was very surprised! I hope you have a good experience! Most people are very pleased with Juvederm! |

Yes! Bromelain! I know about it. Thanks for reminding me. I will start taking it a week ahead. I take SOOOOOOO many vitamins. Don't know what I should stop taking that might increase bruising. Of course Vit E...but I wonder what else? |

I never would have thought to use arnica & bromelain prior to fillers. I have used them in the past for other things and they do work well. All this info is so helpful.

Also Omega fatty acids and maybe any herbal supplements. |

I was told to cut out my Vit E and Omega and if you take a multi-vit that has any of these. Also, aspirin, NSAIDS and I also cut out alcohol as its a blood thinner. Sometimes though I decide to do this on a days notice and don't have time to prepare. That's when I bruise.
My derm does a cocktail with the juvaderm injection that contains pain killer and an anti-bruising substance, can't remeber what they are but it really helps.
And if you have a Quasar or Baby Q don't use them on those areas! |

Is this just for before? Or are you not suppose to use LED's at any time on area's? |

I think I can explain that. It happened to me too, except I used Juvederm both times. First time when I had it injected, there was no result seen after the swelling went away. I used just one vial first, which is like one syringe. It was simply not enough for the area I wanted.
I went back and added 2 more vials and I could see the results. And believe me even with that amount, there was change but not such an apparent that people could notice a difference right away. It is just an overall fullness of the area I worked on. I realized that I am safe from overdoing it, as I really need a lot of stuff (and money) to come to the point when it is very obvious that I had injections with a filler. I mean if you spread it over the surrounding area and not inject all in one wrinkle/lip/or fold |
