I have been suffering from Psoriasis for about 13 years, and i have been trying to find home remedies to help clear up the areas of my skin that are really bad. Does anyone know of any good home remedies that can help? |

Hi Smokin,
I would try 'green smoothies'...they really have made a difference in my skin...I put ground flax in the smoothie along with spinach and fruit...search for 'green smoothies' and there is a whole thread devoted to them...good luck!

This isn't a cure and not really a home remedy, but my nephew uses the Lush product Dreamwash instead of soap--it is a thickish cream that does not lather, but he says that it is soothing and non-aggravating. He also uses Dreamcream as a moisturizing treatment on bad patches.
Personally, I find Lush products hit or miss--mostly miss--but I thought I'd pass on this recommendation. |

Well thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my post! I will definitely keep those products in mind! Does your nephew notice that it helps to stop the redness? Can i get them at any local drug store, or are they just online? |

You could also try Skin Biology's BioHeal. They actually have a section on its use for psoraisis
I'm a big fan of SB's Copper Peptides (CPs). I use the CP serum on my face w/ great results. I've also used BioHeal on rashes, insect bites and burns and it really helps the skin to heal much faster. Their products really are great.
EDS carries some of the SB CPs, but not the BioHeal. Check it out here:
http://www.reverseskinaging.com/psoriasis.html
read the other tabs for more info too- (Results; About the Condition and Cautions/Tips)
Good luck. |

Thank you so much for the recommendation!
Do you know how much the BioHeal usually runs?
I hope it gives fast results! |

smokinsavsy - the prices are listed on the link for you. the bioheal is realativley inexpensive at $19.95. they also recommend getting the emu oil (wonderful moisturizer - same lipids as human skin so it sinks in easily and acts as a 'pusher' for CPs - helping them to sink in better) and their Gentle Cleanse. You can use other cleansers - just make sure they are very gentle. I love the Gentle Cleanse - it's my fav right now. You can also use a diff oil like squalene if you like (they sell that too)
the Bioheal can work pretty fast. some comments on the results tab mentioned just a couple of weeks for results, but SB says to expect 3-4 for typical results. how bad are your lesions? I'm sure that will have some bearing on it. My husband used it on a bee sting and the bump/red mark was gone in a day. He HAD been using a cortisone gel on it for 4 or 5 days already w/ not much result.
FYI - if you decide to go w/ a few of these products - SB has a special of a free sample for $50 spent. you could try the CP serum or something else for free. |

smokinsavvy - I don't know about food in relation to psoraisis. Can't help there.
Another product you should try along w/ the BioHeal is a gentle BHA (salicylic acid). It will help speed the process along by helping to remove the scaly lesions. Skin Bio sells one called Exfol Serum (or Cream). Use this about 30 minutes before the CPs for best results. That will give the BHA time to work on its own (adding a higher pH product on top immediately will decrease a BHAs effectiveness).
The idea w/ CPs is 'out with the old, in with the new' (the exfoliation from acids removes the old cells, the CPs help rebuild the new ones) And, in your case, the CPs should help the new ones act normally. |

I guess I'd look into healing the physical/emotional/spiritual inner sources for the psorasis (we all have 'something' that manifests physically..and if you can heal the source for this, you'll heal other disturbances that may be bothering you now..or may come up (but now won't!)in the future. Some examples would ne a homeopath...who deals with the connection between mind, body, spirit(according to homeopathy all physical diseases and imbalances begin in the 'spirit' rhen f deepened enter into our emotional self and if still not healed manifest physically..again we all have 'something' some imbalance needs healing)..or a naturopath who may be able to help you with food intolerances specific to you..or a TCM(traditional Chinese Medicine) practitioner food intolerances...who may be able to heal the condition through herbs or acupuncture...or a professinal consultation with a western style herbalist.
But symptomatically, a clean diet..no chemicals white carbs, etc...(my mom had this condition for years and healed it through giving up coffee and 'cleaning up' her diet signigantly and has been free of it for decades now) ...including smoothies, green powdered drinks like barley grass and spirulina, homemade veggie juices with lots of greens in your diet may help.
decoctions (simmering below the boiling point for 40-60 minutes) of Echinacea Angustifolia has really helped people with allm kinds of skin problems including psoriasis...
applications of green clay can help manage it also.
anyway these are just some suggestions to begin with. |

food intolerancesoops..i don't proof my posts cause i often lose them when i do ...but the sentence about tcm should read
"a TCM(traditional Chinese Medicine) practitioner...who may be able to heal the condition through herbs or acupuncture" |

She purchases it online at lovelula
around $50.00/container Canadian. She has been experimenting with different methods for over 30 years and finds this one keeps it under control-especially now in our winter season where the weather can dip to a nasty -40C irratating it. During shower, she uses exfng.gloves and pure almond oil. I will speak with her and see if she has any more secrets to share |

oh, and apparently it is made up of very few ingredients, all natural or organic, so maybe you could create something simular at home if it works for you? |

I've actually applied Flax Oil to my skin directly, after someone told me it could be used as a moisturiser) and I have a friend who suffers from Psoriasis and she tried this and said it made her skin much better and less itchy and flaky.

Smokinsavsy,
I forgot to say that the echinacea decoction should be applied topically to the skin (not drunk..although drinking it is good for flu UTI's etc.)
...but if making a decoction is too difficult (the cut and shifted organic root can be purchased from Mountainrose herbs) adding an echinacea root tincture...(although missing some of the healing attributes of the decocted root)... to a lotion or cream or oil would also aid in relieving your condition.
i looked up the ingedients for the eyptian magic cream online and it is olive oil with a lot of bee products (honey, propolis, royal jelly)...sounds soothing. |

Canadagirl2-i'm definitely continuing to look into the Egyptian Magic, it sound like it would help me. Please talk to your mother and ask her what else she uses that helps her psoriasis. Thanks for your help (:
Jasminerosey-so white carbs like potatos, rice, flour..stuff like that is bad for psoriasis? That is so interesting oh my gosh i'm definitely looking into that and i will cut it from my diet and see if it helps my skin! Thank you for looking up the ingredients for that egyptian magic, i probably could make a similar thing at home...i'll give it a try (:
What is TCM? is it someone i go to who gives me the medicine...or find online? i am very new to all of this lol so please bare with me
TheresaMary-thank you for your recommendation of Flax Oil! So many people are telling me about it, i'm going to give it a try and see what it does for me! Less itchy and flaky is ALWAYS good (: |

Hello,
Did you try to cure in home? I bought such a specialist fluorescent lamp with housing for phototherapy that can be used for psoriasis and vitiligo on eBay and now use it in my house.
It looks like the one below:
Lamp Vitiligo Psoriasis PHILIPS PL-S 9W/01 2P G23d 230V UVB 311nm(arm with 75cm)
Hope you each find what works for you, all the best.

No, don't use green smoothies, green vegetables contain too many anti-nutrients and toxins. Don't use flax, too estrogenic and contains cadmium, a cyanide-like compound.
Psoriasis is caused by inflammation, so reduce polyunsaturated fats (omega 3 & 6) in your diet. Aspirin helps suppress the prostaglandins that cause inflammation:

Also, try bathing in Epsom salts and baking soda and applying coconut oil to the affected area. |

Actually, here is the response on using aspirin for psoriasis from your link above:
I was unable to find any reports or studies on the utility of aspirin in psoriasis. According to the National Psoriasis Foundation website, aspirin and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) do not change psoriasis skin lesions, although such agents do sometimes cause worsening. Certain NSAIDs, such as indomethacin, have been reported to trigger flares of psoriasis. — Jeffrey M. Weinberg, MD (150-10) |

hi! I've dealt with rosacea for years, on and off.. the redness and scaling are so annoying and uncomfortable. I now use a cream from Makeup Artist's Choice called "Rosacea Complex with Regu-Cea". It doesn't make it go away completely(unfortunately) but really helps while I am having a flare up. Calms the itching and redness, has a very cooling effect, goes on easily. Forget how much I paid for it, but they have sales often, which is usually when I purchase from them...good luck! |

I have read that putting magnesium flakes in one's bath water is very good for psoriasis, and mixing mag flakes with water makes what is known as 'magnesium oil' and applied to psoriasis is said to be very healing. It is cheap to try and good for you anyway. Apparently we are all magnesium deficient and experience the effects of that in different ways. The same protocol is said to be very pain relieving and a great relief for those with fibromyalgia, and rheumatism or arthritis. |
