I am considering cosmetic surgery and would like to share stories...

(why was it ever called plastic surgery? LOL)

Please share your story with details such as:

Area of the body?

Pain/Swelling/Healing - the good, the bad and the ugly?

Why you wanted the surgery?

Did the results meet your expectations?

Cost of the surgery and where you had it done?

Positive impacts/negative impacts on your life, relationships - mental state, physical state, etc.?

If you could go back in time, would you still make the same decisions? if not, why?

Thanks! BF

I just wanted to mention these sites in case you don't already know about them. I find them very helpful with research.

I had a rhinoplasty when I was 16. I am now 35, and it looks fine on the outside - but I have had trouble with snoring ever since! It feels a little different - when I get a facial, the anesthetist always looks a little puzzled when she is working on my nose.

After surgery - the recovery was not too bad. Just a week of black eyes... and my teeth hurt!
My nose was swollen for about a year - and would pop (just like your ears do) when there was a change in air pressure.

In those days, you could pass anything through insurance (deviated septum was my reason) so cost was minimal.

I really wish I did not do it. Looking back on it, my nose just had a small little hump no big deal. LIve and learn. I guess as we get older we begin to feel more comfortable in our skin.

Yes I agree a fabulous site, I wish I have found it before I got my work done. But eventually when I have a redo I will be researching it for a year and that forum will be included for research.
Goodluck and dont rush into things.
All so the best isnt necessarily the most expensive..

yes I agree if you are planning on surgery take your time to do research!Check the drs. credentials.Make sure he is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery....many are NOT since it is a rigorous long training. There are many different certifications but that is the most important one.Get more than 1 consultation and just because one dr costs more does not make him better. Many times LOCATION will determine price. Hollywood I found was more than the inland areas.....I found a great dr who was less than half of the famous Hollywood drs and I think better!

I love the makemeheal site. I did a lot of research before my upper and lower bleph.
Best thing I ever did. I asked around to get the name of my doc so I actually saw his handiwork.
Now I would love to have a little mini-lift to get rid of some lower face wrinkles. Maybe in another economy, dear hubby is at the end of his patience with me and my endless quests for beauty/gadgets!
