Have searched the posts today and give up. Can anyone suggest to me the best way to use these products together in my skincare regimen? For instance, would it be a problem to use estrogen mixed with retin a? Presently I use them on alternating days in the pm. I use Vit C serum in the am & CP after the retin a, but before the estrogen pm. I dimly remember reading that the ph balances can cancel out the effectiveness so the order is important. Based on that they (E & R-A) couldn't be used together but I'm not sure. I thought some of you DIYers might know or know where I could go for info. My skin is fairly resilient. |

Hi Taz! I believe Retin-A is really more effective if used alone. How about using the Estrogen cream 30 minutes after your Vit. C serum in the a.m.? |

taz, I think using the E and R-A on alternating days is a great way to go. Another thought would be to apply the estrogen crm after the Vit C(like beirrose mentioned), but waiting until the C sinks in. If you're using a serum based one, they only need about 10 minutes or so to do that. 30 minutes is even better if you have the time. The C serums's acidity/pH (and liquid form) call for it to go on first after cleansing, but it doesn't take long for it to sink in. If you're using a lipid form of Vit C, then it shouldn't matter. I would just let one product sink in a bit before applying another one to give it time to work on its own first.
I really think the less is more theory is something to think about and alternating nights/days with your actives is a good way to go. Most advice given these days for Retin A is to apply it only about 3X/wk anyway. That would let you alternate easily. |

You guys are so great! I could be a little OCD heh, heh cause woke up in the middle of the night with the idea of adding it to my ss which goes on after the c has had time to sink in. You know what they say about great minds! I am curious about the current recommendations that retin-a be used 3 x week. Do you think that applies to long time users as well? |

The recommendation for Retin-A is to use every night for a year and then to cut back to 3X a week. |
