I do have a 1.5 and treat the single needle like a 1.5 roll - meaning I want to use the single needle about every 4-6 wks. Not neccesarily the same night as a 1.5 roll - but close. The only difference is I apply CPs right after needling with the single needle. |

thanks foxe,
so basically one would have to alternate them? Like do a 1.5 roll, then wait 4-6 weeks and use the single needle method? It's just that it says on the own doc site to wait approx 5 days after a 1.5 to use the single needles,- but I figured if I'd gone over the crows feet area with the 1.5 previously, I shouldn't really be using a single needle over the same area 5 days later?
sorry if I sound a bit dumb here,
thanks again

I think only waiting a few days (I waited about 3) after a deep roll for single needling is fine. The single needle targets a depressed or a 'special' area the roller can't get to (unless one pulls their skin really tight!)or just needs extra attention. I have also used it on some upper lip lines and ice pick acne scars (which are depressed) following up w/ CPs and it worked well for those spots too. Those will need to have additionals treatments - more so than the SHs. |

Hi all
I just received my skin singals and exfol serum yesterday and started to use it last night.
Just a short question if anyone could help. I have a 0.25mm dermaroller planned to roll 2 nights per week. I planned to follow SB's instruction that apply skin signals in the am and exfol serum at night. Can I apply the exfol serum right after rolling? If not, how long do I need to wait?
Thanks,
KaoriY |

Hello kaori- I would wait as it might sting. If I were you I would get something that has vitamin e in it or maybe a a solution like "let's make collagen", every lipid serum or marine nutrient serum from skinactives.com. These will "feed" your skin with good stuff while the pores are open. Then a leisurely half hour later I'd put on the exfol. Or better yet put on the skin signals and do the exfol another time when you're not rolling. |

Thanks a lot.
So do you meant dont apply the exfol serum right after rolling?
I only have B5 gel and squalene on hand. I will then try to use them right after rolling and apply the exfol serum half an hour later. Is this plan OK?
Thanks/Kaori |

Another update on my use of CPs for penetration.
I did a roll about 4 days ago with a .5 and applied Super Cop 2X (spot treated) over my upper lip lines. I also used Emla over this area since it is usually very sensitive for me. This enabled me to do a pretty good roll - even w/ the .5.
The upper lip looked very red afterwards - much redder than the rest of my face. I could feel the SC2X go in after applying it, even though my skin is pretty use to CPs (even the strongest one).
My upper lip stayed fairly red the next day. On the 3rd day it felt stiff - like it was going to peel. Today it peeled and in addition to the general area peeling, I saw the inside of one of the lip lines peel and appear red and raw. This only happened to one of many lines.
This is exciting for me since I can expect that line to fill in with the use of the CPs. I have seen this happen before. The skin will heal smooth after a while. It might need to do it again, though(if the wrinkle is a deep one - which this one was). I will be tracking this and taking notes, so I will report back.
Speaking of reporting back - my SH are improving still. I can see they will need another treatment, but they are but a faint reminder of what they use to be!! Very smooth with the surrounding skin. I can still see some of the SH since I knew they use to be there. The color is just a bit lighter than the surrounding area and the pores are slightly bigger. |

Kaori - why not apply the exfol in the AM and the CPs in the PM with the squalene over the CPs. Not sure where to fit the B5 in - you may not need it after a while. The CPs/squalane should be enuf for moisturizing. Maybe the B5 after the oil if you still need it?
You would want to use the CPs after the roll - perhaps within that first hour. Then the other 2 could go on later. |

This is great news foxe - I'm inspired! I'm going to use skin signals directly after my next roll.
I've wanted to do this but have been applying a lipid solution first, waiting a while and then put skin signals on.
I was afraid it would completely overdo things if I applied straight off but my skin is adjusted and it is a good next step. I've also just started putting Super CP on my nl's and two tiny scars. And just ordered the premier eyes and TTT - so excited to get going with these. |

Sis, I've used the Skin Signals right after rolling with excellent results. I've also used the Exfol right after rolling and had NO stinging or burning. Waited a few minutes and then applied S/S. Here again, I think everyone's tolerance differs and I would suggest doing a patch test to anyone who may want to try the Exfol or the S/S immediately after rolling.
Foxe, you always inspire me! I'm digging out my SkinSignals once again. I've been on MD Forte III glycolic products for the past couple of months and love the results. I use this only at night and I've been using Vitamin C products in the morning. Going to put those up and change to CP's during the day and roll for penetration before applying.

Hi everyone
I have just received my .25 and .75 mm rollers. I am excited to try. I am interested in Vitamin C Serum Penetration, for now. Maybe work up to the .75 mm roller for CIT.
I am (verrry) concerned about bacteria (and other infectious agents) getting into my skin and possibly causing infection. Is there any harm (or good) in using Tea Tree Oil in my mix of Vitamin C Serum? Does anyone foresee possible unseen irritation/damage to the skin, when using tea tree oil that deep? I want to keep the bacteria at bay, but do not want to cause irritation.... that can damage in the long run.
My Penetration Only Mix with .025 mm Roller
1oz Squalane
7% Vitamin C (Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate - oil soluble)
3-4 drops Tea Tree Oil
Thanks for comments! |

I always put my roller in alcohol for about 15 minutes pre-roll and then let it dry for another five minutes. I also soak afterward for at least 15 minutes. I've never had a problem.
For rolling I've used ELS from Skinactives usually combined with an anti-oxidant blend from same place. This is what I want to feed my skin. I wouldn't necessarily want the tea tree oil for that purpose. Maybe you could swipe your skin five minutes before rolling with the tea tree and then put on other product right before or after the roll. |

After the roller is in alcohol for 5 minutes, do you rinse the alcohol off with HOT or warm water?
Yes, swiping with the tea tree oil pre-roll is what I will do. This way it's not so deep in the skin and causing possible inflammation.
I have shopped at Skinactives before. I will look for the products you mentioned. Thank you
Thank you for comments and info! |

Hi Frenchgal - I don't rinse the roller off = I just let it dry. I know you probably don't want alcohol in your face (yuck) but if it dries you're probably good to go. I have read this as recommended protocol on a dermaroller thread by Sara Vaughter.
Also, Let the tea tree dry on your face before rolling - I'm sure you figured that out - didn't need me to say it I usually wash with a salicylic acid cleanser and then apply the stuff from Skinactives and roll it in. I've started using copper peptides after for firming/tightening and overall anti-aging. My newest, most favorite thing. |

Hi Sister Sweets
I really like the idea of letting the alcohol dry naturally. More sanitary, less work.
I have tried the CP in the past, but stopped using it. Seemed to make under my eyes swollen. I doubt I gave it enough time.
Now I am doing the Vitamin C Serum (day) and Retin A .5% (night) routine, this is working good for me, for now.
I am very new to Dermarolling (I guess its obvious ) It's great there is so much info online, and helpful forum members like yourself to learn from. I don't think I would dare do it without all the helpful info.
Thank you! |

Please don't laugh at me, but I really want to try this, but am having difficulty with reading the thread because I have a sensitive gag reflex, and I am feeling faint and like I might vomit every time someone mentions rolling and seeing blood. I had hoped this thread wouldn't be about needles above .5 because of that. Its an odd reaction for me as I have given myself intramuscular shots and sub-q shots for an extended time without any trouble. Usually only food aversion trigger this reaction, so its odd for me to have this reaction to dermarolling as it is for you to read!
I'd really appreciate it if someone whose rolling for product penetration only (I planned on using vitamin c serum - homemade- and vitamin e oil) with a smaller needle could message me and discuss their experiences and help me.
Thank you! |

I am thinking about ordering rollers from owndoc.com. Is this the best company to order rollers from?
Has anyone ever used the Lufenuron for killing Candida, it is advertised on this web site? I would love some feedback on it.
Thanks. |

I'm doing my homework. Read 50 pages of the big thread and this entire thread and I have a few preliminary questions about cleaning/disinfecting the dermaroller. What product should be used? Denture tablets, Isopropyl, Iodine, Barbicil have been suggested, YET! when those products dry, won't they leave a residue on the needles which will then be transferred into our skin when rolling?
In this article it mentions the ingredients of a cleaning fluid. Does anyone know what the product is?
http://www.beautymagonline.com/pages/environ_rollcit.htm
Ingredients :
Aqua (water), Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil (and) Polysorbate 20 (and) Ethoxylated Castor Oil, Alcohol Denat. No preservatives or fragrances used during manufacture
Also, after disinfecting the roller, it should be rinsed in water. What kind of water should I use? Living in the country, I have well water which is hard, full of iron and God only knows what else. I'm not sure if it will rinse well and if it won't dry with residue on the needles.
TIA |

Greetings all!!
Wondering if anyone has tried rolling for product penetration with cellulite/stretch mark cream?? As a double whammy against the nuisances?
I've just purchased Vichy's anti-cellulite cream, and a cream with vit a, c and e to begin rolling with. I am seeing my doctor next week to see about a prescription for retin-a. It's very difficult to come by vit a and c in the US, I have been looking for days and can't seem to find anything that isnt a $50 eye cream.
So tonight I will be rolling for the first time for product penetration and hopefully things will go well.
I would like to rid my thighs and buttocks of stretch marks and cellulite. Strangely, it seems my cellulite gets worse as I lose weight. I assume my skin isn't tightening as the fat dwindles away; I'm hoping dermarolling will help my skin to perk up and get to tightening itself. I've had these stretchmarks since I was about 10, I'm 18 now. I will try to keep everyone updated on how things go over the next few months! |

Another thought: the instructions that came with my Dermaroller (the original Dermaroller brand with 0.2mm needles) say to begin with twice a week rolling, and once your skin adapts, you may go up to 3-5 times per week for product penetration. A deep roll you should only do once every 4-6 weeks, depending on how your skin heals. ~ JJ |
As people have experimented with rolling more often than once a month, what have been the results? Is it really okay to roll multiple times a week for product penetration? I've seen person after person get yelled at in the stretchmark dermarolling and original dermarolling threads whenever they mention rolling more often than once ever 4 weeks...
So as long as we do not roll too deep, it's safe to roll for penetration a few times a week? |

I am now rolling with a .05 owndoc roller for product penetration. I was thinking of putting on Vit E on and rolling that in, wiping my face off then placing the cream (comes with the kit) afterwards.
I am trying to treat two depressed chicken pox scars and the expression lines in my forhead.
I am not sure if anyone is willing to do this but I wanted to try some of the Super Cop but don't want to get a whole tube since I need to see how my skin will react. If anyone is willing to send me a little, I would be very appreciative. I will even send you a little money for the exchange. |

I was trying to roll with the 0.25 a few times, every time i broke out a lot. I wonder if anyone has any tips on having this done on oily acne prone skin.(I did not roll over active acne) |

I'm about to order a couple of rollers from eBay, probably from 2 different sellers...jaysun_beauty (jaysun_trading) and from zmart_beauty_dot_com...both have the green (or is it blue? ) roller head and the plastic coffin-case with the gold circular emblem on the case top. Will get a 1.5 and a .25 or .5 for product penetration..question: can the 1.5 be used for product penetration several times a week if I use a VERY light hand with it? I'm asking in case the 1.5 arrives first and the other fails to come, or is delayed. Didn't someone a few pages back say the one they ordered from jaysun hadn't arrived? Did it arrive, and how long did it take?
Oh, and is there really any point in ordering a small 3-line roller? What's the advantage? |

I've been thinking of getting the small roller just to deal with icepick-type scars. The thing is, those suckers hurt (my longer roller is a 1), so if I'm focusing just on a scar, I'd get a 1.5 and endure the pain because it would be limited to a much smaller area.
At least that's my theory. |
