Hi everyone,
I would love to know the ingredients of the Creme De La Mer Gel Cream, Lotion and Eye Balm. Is there anywhere I can find these listed online?
I have never used the brand, and really want to try it, but the original cream contains lanolin alcohol which I cannot use.
Hope someone can help |

Here is why I would steer clear of this product, based solely on the ingredients in the product, as well as the cost of the product.
Ingredients number 2, 3 and 7 (all highly loaded in the formula) are all petroleum based. They are petrolatum, mineral oil, and microcrystalline wax. These ingredients are probably the LAST ingredient any formulator should choose for a moisture barrier (Jojoba Esters are far better, and natural). These ingredients are pore clogging and completely incompatible with natural skin oils (lipids). So, this product will disrupt normal skin function rather than aid it. Many cosmetic users cannot tolerate these raw materials in cosmetic products.
The only reason these ingredients were chosen, in my opinion, is cost. These are some of the lowest cost, cheapest mass commodity raw materials found in the industry. They are used mainly to keep the cost of the product as low as possible. Now, doesn't that seem strange for one of the HIGHEST priced formulas on the market today?
Again, this is why you need to refer to the ingredients list, rather than any "marketing spin" when purchasing a product. I agree with annesun, it IS too much money for the effect.
Hope this helps,
John |

I agree Creme de la Mer does not warrant the money. I've used it for about a year, and there were no spectacular results, and all I want from creams at this point is hydration.
Recently I've switched to Dermalogica's Skin Smoothing Cream and the Skin Hydration Booster, which is giving me better results than La Mer.
If you like La Mer, but don't like the cost, than there are *better* alternatives:
Eve Lom TLC cream- this has a mineral oil base too, but as Notch said, mineral oil isn't good for the skin. |
