I ordered Carolyn's program a few days ago. I've done FE in the past and the only result I got, that prevented me from going further with it than the novice stage, was neck stress and spasms and headaches from the tension of holding the poses, and how long they'd take - the full routine is like 40 minutes. So I'm hoping Carolyn's will involve less what I'd considered forceful poses - if that makes sense. I never resumed doing FE, and just couldn't get into Ageless.
Been doing Carolyn's neck line eraser/massage for a few days and I really like it! As well as the pinching of the neck skin that I think came from Ageless. At 57 my neck is getting a little flabby and lined though the rest of me is doing pretty good for my age. Hoping for good things from this one. |

Hi Nonie,
I did contact Carolyn, I told her you referred me. She said you are a wonderful person
I sent her photos from before Ageless, during and now, and asked if she thought CFF would help. She told me to do the full program and do 10 slides for part3 of the face firmer and send her photos again in 4 months.
I really like the DVD, and how the program incorporates massage into it. 15 min a few times/ week is totally worth it. I look forward to noticing some improvement.
I did give myself over two months break from any facial exercise, so I think it's ok to start now. I've tried the face firmer twice, and I definitely feel it after! |

Hi fitgineer
Aww...Carolyn is too kind!
I am glad you are liking the program so far. I am really excited for you. I remember the first time I did the program, perhaps because of the massages, I felt as I had just had a wonderful facial.
As I probably have shared before in this thread, I love to do the workout on a clean slippery face as I find it easier to slide my fingers over flexed muscle if my skin isn't dry. Some people like the friction felt on dry skin. You could experiment with either and see what you like. I usually workout after doing an OCM cleanse which provides slip on my skin even after I wipe off the oil, but I think lotion on clean skin would be just as good.
Don't forget to always flex (contract) muscles first (http://www.carolynsfacialfitness.com/why-are-the-cffitness-facial-exercises-so-effective) and to be gentle--at least in the beginning (http://www.carolynsfacialfitness.com/how-to-achieve-the-build-you-want-using-the-right-touch-with-cff).
Sending positive vibes your way.... |

A question for Nonie - off the track a little but still about Carolyn's products. What do you think of her haircare? It reads very nice and I'm impressed with her somewhat holistic approach. |

Hi sister sweets:
My hair is in pretty good condition as I don't cause trauma with too much manipulation with styling tools. I don't use heat (last time I used any heat on it was April 2009); I never use brushes; I haven't used a comb in it since April 2009 The way I'm able to keep from bothering my hair too much is by wearing it in twists
which I maintain by redoing one at a time as I feel like and because I am working on just a small section, I am able to be gentle and carefully finger-comb (ie use fingers to separate the strands and remove shed hair thus preventing tangles). I dust the ends every 8 weeks to keep split ends at bay. I am one of the few black people with the kinkiest hair there is who doesn't use any leave-in products because I love how my hair feels bare. So shampoos and conditioners that can keep my hair feeling good are usually fine by me. And I can say the CFF products do just that that.
The shampoo is clear which is a huge hit with me. I loathe creamy shampoos. Creamy shampoos feel to me as if I'm applying lotion on my scalp when I use them so I always feel like I need to take a bath. *gag* The only creamy shampoo I own is Nexxus Therappe which I use on just my hair (not scalp) after I used Nexxus Emergencee just because directions say to do so and I have found my hair appreciates the results of the two working as a team. Otherwise every shampoo I own is clear and is mainly for scalp cleaning. My favorite being Giovanni 50:50 because of how squeaky clean it leaves my scalp w/o stripping my hair. The CFF shampoo is gentle, has a soft scent that reminds me of baby shampoo, and leaves hair and scalp feeling clean but not stripped.
The conditioner is light--may be too watery for people who like thick, heavy treatments--and it has a lovely soft, clean scent, ie it is not sickeningly floral or fruity. My hair felt fine after I used it. I love that the conditioner didn't leave my hair feeling coated but rather my hair was nicely conditioned and felt soft and had a lovely light sheen (My hair is kinky:
....so reflecting light isn't something it does in its natural, shrunken state. The only time I can expect it to have some shine is when it is straightened:
I rarely seek out new products because the few I use work just fine, but I do like both the CFF shampoo and conditioner enough to make them part of my staples. |

I know that is what you were asking but since EDS members are just human like anyone else and since there may be users who may not see your question so you may never get an answer, I thought the link would be a good place to start. After all, people do not necessarily use their real names here so for all you know, there might be EDS members on one of the 11 pages I linked to. |

Well I stand corrected! Ive been doing CFF for about 2 weeks now and see a dramatic improvement in my budding neck cords. Saved me $5000 for a neck lift already!
I couldnt even lift my head off the floor at first for a count of 10 but now I can do the full count of 40. I too experienced neck pain when doing other neck exercises but not with CFF. And I was afraid exercises would only make the cords pop out more - I WAS WRONG! Strengthening the entire neck builds the muscles and firms the skin to cover the cords! Who wants a scrawny old-lady neck? You know the ones I mean: they look like turtles with skinny wrinkly necks and big heads.
Not to denigrate any other programs, but I feel like CFF explains in great detail the Qs that I have before I even ask them. Her website is jam-packed with useful infos about the exercises and skin/muscles. The DVD/CD combo is great for seeing Carolyn do the exercises and having a buddy in the morning to exercise with, but you can go to her website and see the exercises explained in written form too. How generous is that: you dont even need to spend any $$ if you dont want to. But really I feel she deserves the money for the work she does for us.
Big thumbs up Carolyn! I only hope I can look at great as you do! |

I suffer from jaw joint pain for several years.
I had to stop with CFF because it got worse a lot.
after x'rays my joint cartilage seems to be almost disappeared.
I wouldn't recommend for TMJ sufferers |

Just to say that Carolyn does issue a WARNING with the exercise you are talking about - Neck Strengthener. She says, "Only do as many as feel comfortable. Do not over-do!"
I'm fine with this exercise and have been doing it for five years along with the rest of the programme, but it doesn't seem to be suitable for everyone - hence the warning. Listen to your body. If in doubt, contact Carolyn - she's a great communicator. |

The fuller lower face happened to me by surprise. I did not consider my face gaunt or think it needed any filling out, but in this my 7th year of CFF, I happened to take a photo of myself and my lower face looked fuller than I remembered. I had makeup on (I am trying to learn makeup skills albeit half-heartedly so this was during one of the trial runs). I thought maybe the makeup was playing tricks on me, so the next day I took photos of my lower face without any makeup and compared it with my face in 2007 when I started CFF and there is clearly a huge difference. The photos below show Jan 2007 vs Oct 2013:
I don't think my neck has changed in size...but then again, I have no problem with its size as to notice any changes that may be happening.
tasha923337, you say you just started Flex Effect. Well, why not give it a good run and see. "Facialbuilding" is what it prides itself on and Deb does not have a gaunt face or skinny neck. So perhaps you will get the same results she has.
It took maybe 7 years for someone who had over 15 years of facial training before starting CFF to see a change in the fullness of her lower face, so you have to be realistic and not expect results overnight. My face may have filled in sooner than 7 years but it never jumped out at me before that day in October this year when I took the pic.
Maybe the trainers or members at the Flex Effect camp can offer some encouragement by offering pointers or sharing before/after photos of facialbuilding successes via PM with you. I know it is always inspiring to see others who were once in your shoes but made strides. |

Does gauntness in the face have to do with hormonal inbalance, adrenals or stress? |

Well, a change in the fullness of the face can be due to several factors. Aging is probably the main one and loss of mass as we grow older is inevitable unless we take measures to prevent it.
As we grow older, we lose facial fat, muscles slacken and sag, and facial bones deteriorate taking away the fullness we had. Also everything slows down For example, our skin's moisture content diminishes as enzymes' action to produce hyaluronic acid is reduced making skin thinner. At menopause, a deficiency in estrogen affects collagen production so again plumpness diminishes. Stress is aging in itself as it affects how the human machine works and it can lead to sudden weight loss which would lead to a gaunt face. Even malnourishment can cause you to lose mass in your face. As can bad habits like smoking.... |

I just wanted to report here that I have been doing CfF consistently/religiously since 1/23/14 and just got carded by a guy who just about lost it when he saw my age. I guess he and I are a couple years apart? He genuinely was amazed:) I am almost 46. Who'da thought!? Lol
Many thanks to Nonie for encouraging me to give this another shot!!! I had bought her program years ago and quit doing it for whatever goofy reason
Anyways, made my day and thought I'd share that here. |

Hi Pamma,
I'm so glad CFF is working for you! Have your marionette lines gotten better? I've decided to take a break from her exercises for a while as my eyes were looking quite hollowed. I think I overbuilt my cheeks. They're going down some and my overall face is looking much better. Not sure why this was happening I was only doing it 3x a week. Didn't do much for my marionette lines. Maybe I'll find something else. |

Hi Ollie! Did you talk to Carolyn about the hollows? From her pics you can see major changes in her eyes.. I will say that a little bit of hollowing happened to my eyes at about age 43 and I wasn't really doing a program at that time. Skin starts thinning:(
Personally I don't see much difference in my appearance cept my cheeks are changing some how, maybe they are a bit fuller or more defined...I can't really tell lol and my forehead is definitely thickening a bit which makes me happy.
I'd like to see a whole lot more toning in the lower cheek area so I'm going to keep after it:) |

I have to say I am disappointed about the support i got when I contacted Carolyn with some questions. She sent me a fairly standard reply and told me to be patient. Not very encouraging. And sent me "recent" photos of her, which I saw more than 2 years ago. I'll keep doing the program until I reach 4 months and try contacting her again. Maybe she'll give me more precise guidance then. |
