A bit of honesty...what a pleasant surprise for you I bet Very Happy

Sounds to me like you have yourself a great Doc, putting your best interest before profit, certainly a breath of fresh air!

Weight is also a concern for me in regards to the fillers. I feel most comfortable around 125 lbs and had gained about 10 lbs over the last several months. I've been slowly getting back down and worry though my new cheeks will make me look more guant in the mid-face section.

And to answer Keliu's question...I had one syringe for both cheeks. Apparently I was more flat faced on my right side than my left which I didn't realize, so the right took more than the left. I sleep right sided more often than the left so it could be something there. But I now sleep with the Save My Face pillow and have been for the last year (I recommend this little guy to anyone who gets filler in their face, worked like a charm to elevate the cheeks off the pillow!)

Also, my botox headache is finally gone...thank goodness Laughing

nice to hear that your skin has improved after all you've been doing (interesting, and typical for many of us, that you haven't noticed it yourself...have others also told you that you are looking good?)

Bren,
it would be so nice to see a photo of the dif in your cheeks..although i really not asking you to do that..just feeling/thinking about how beautiful you must look.

I had a syringe of Beautical 5 today (Feb 2010).
I had one syringe of Jvedearm in May 2009, another one in June 2009 and another one in Sep 2009. It has been 6 months from my last Juvedearm and 3 syringe in last 10 months.
My question is can I mix Beautical 5 and Juvedearm?

With all these posts, I have decided to see a derm close to my neighborhood. I have some hollowness below my lower lids and he recommended juvederm filler there but not in my cheek bones. He said my cheek bones are still plump that adding filler there may be a bit unnatural. What I forgot to ask (which I hope Dr Rose or the others can tell me) is: If i get a filler as he recommended, can I still use my Baby Quasar? (I have been using my BQ very sparingly....I have not seen much result with it, maybe because I don't do it very often). A syringe costs about $550. Does that seem right?

Price sounds about right.

I think most of us feel that using any device "might" contribute to faster loss of the filler..but really it is hard to know...even your doctor would only be offering an opinion.

I personally choose not to use my LED etc over my fillers. However..fillers stay in the undereye area better than any other area (my juvederm lasted well over 2years) so you might decide to take the chance.

Good luck...make sure you stay away from asprin, ibprofen fish oil etc before your juvey and take some ice with you to use on the way home to help bring down the swelling....the undereyes can be big swellers and bruisers!

Snowqueen,
Are you still happy with your fillers? I talked with my physician at the medspa I go to about adding volume to my cheeks. I'd love to do it but am on a rather tight budget right now.

Do you still feel that it's worth the cost in the end? Thanks!

totally, utterly. Bear in mind it has only been 3 months so we'll have to see how it holds up, but looking good so far. Very face changing in a good way.

I choose to go without new clothes, makeup etc for this stuff, because I feel if I maintain my face that is the best thing I can do for my appearance.

Good luck...let me know what you decide.

I will second the "totally worth it" Kims...

It's only been 2 weeks for me but the change in my face is AMAZING! It's what my face has been missing all this time and has brought back the proper proportions to my face as in I am not so "bottom heavy" any more...

I have tried facial exercising and all that but really there is no way to replace lost volume without actually replacing it...

I've had Juvederm in the NL's and it's still there after a year even thought I could use a bit of a touch up there, so I am hoping it lasts that long in my cheeks, maybe even a little longer due to the lesser movement high in the cheek area....

I absolutely agree with this. What good's clothes and makeup going to do you if you're losing volume and looking gaunt. I LOVE fillers.

I had fat graft for my cheek bones and I am very happy, I had it done in August and has lasted until now.

I just want to add that not just anybody can fill the hollows under the eyes. I had them filled by a plastic surgeon, they are not so bad but not the way I would have liked.
My botox injector did not want to inject there herself and she referred me to an Oculoplastic, she told me that hollows are a very delicate part and you need to treat it gently by a specialized surgeon. I did not listen and went ahead with a plastic surgeon. I regret it now. I have a couple of bumps in one eye. I just hope they dissolve.

It's such a struggle to keep on fighting aging Sad

Margarett, did you get botox under your eyes? I got it under mine, but only 1 unit each and mine look ok.

I'm not clear if you're not happy with the fat grafting, or with the botox?

I have a gaunt face but really don't need to gain much more weight. I am nervous about having fillers in the cheek area from inexperienced doctors. Does anyone know of an experienced Dr. in the Texas area? The closest I have found so far is New Orleans. I am in Corpus Christi, so Dallas is actually as far as New Orleans. San Antonio would be close; Corpus Christi would be wonderful!

I´m sorry for not making myself clear.
No, I usually get botox for wrinkles on my forehead and crow feet on my eyes with a nurse who is a good injector at a plastic
surgeon´s clinic, I asked her if she could do a filler (Resty or Juvederm) for my hollows, she declined and referred me to an Ocuplastic surgeon who is specialist treating the eye area. I did not listen and went to my plastic surgeon who did my fat grafting to my cheeks and then I asked him to do my hollows with Juvederm, which he did, but now I regret it.
Botox, I love it, but it´s getting expensive and I also liked the fat grafting to my cheekbones, another story with my hollows Sad

Which filler would most often be recommended for "lifting" the cheek area?

Thanks, BF

Which filler you get usually depends on which filler the clinic of your choice uses. But all the manufacturers have thicker versions of their product that are intended for facial wasting and building up the cheeks. Some, like Juvederm, have an inbuilt anesthetic. The Voluma product is so thick that it's injected using a catheter and not a syringe.

Yikes! A cath sounds much more intimidating than a syringe! Laughing

I had Juvederm in my cheeks Barefootgirl....I have a good history with the longevitiy of the Juve in other places and they chose to use that instead of Radiesse...

Does anyone know if these newer, thicker fillers tend to last longer?

The Restylane in my tear troughs has now lasted a year(!!), but I understand it's because that area has little movement.

Yes, they are supposed to last longer - they quote 12 - 18 months. But I think it really depends on the individual - I seem to gobble them up very quickly. If your Restylane has lasted that long then you'll be fine.

...just thought I'd add some more info about my Restylane...

I have had 3 injections thus far.

First injection lasted 5 months

Second injection lasted 8 months

Current injection is close to a year now and I see no reason to run out any time soon to get it again.

Either the injections build upon themselves or something is happening under the skin that makes them last longer each time. I am happy with that.

Would juvederm help sagging cheeks??? My seeks are sagging (I'm only 27) and I think that is what is making my lips turn down. I've always been a really happy outgoing person but now it looks like I'm frowning all the time- I hate it! Sad I look awful.

Does anybody know what would fix this? A filler like juvederm into my cheeks to lift the sagging skin?

I agree BF , my fillers have lasted increasingly. Botox even more so. I have had my cheeks done now 3 mths and no sign of change. My undereyes last 2 years my lips last more than 12mths.
