i hope it works for you.
i do find with winter that i use alot more creams. if you still feel tight, try layering your mosturizers. i sometimes do 3 layers and find it effect for the whole day. HTH |

This winter I started to apply oil (avocado or hemp) as first layer (for massage, than just wipe the excess) than moisturiser - and that really works good for me. |

Sure you know as the seasons change, so do the challenges placed on our skin, so its not uncommon at all for people to have to change their routine in Winter/Summer etc. |

My skin gets drier in winter as well... I exfoliate more often and right after cleansing and toning, have started applying a few drops of organic meadowfoam seed oil around eyes, neck and forehead before other treatments. |

A bottle of facial creme last 3 month,so it is convenient for me to switch cosme according to seasons.Layering moisture doesn't work for me,becuase sometime they just combine and get scrap. |

... really? they combine and get jumbled?
i only notice this when i layer using any type of gel or serum. the gels and serums tend to pill and peel&stick together. howevery, when layering with just creams i never notice this. |

I use Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Night Cream for dry skin during my long airflight and in very dry air condition rooms even in daytime,it is rich and extremely comfortable, just it smells kind of petro oil or vaseline oil I'm not sure |

Illina, I totally agree, can't stand serums that peel.
Beautyrose, do you switch to a more hydrating cleansing lotion/ toner in winter?
Is the "dryness" you are referring to "flakey" skin or uncomfortable tightness/ taut? |

If your skin is drier in winter try washing with a cream cleanser. REN's zostera cleanser is nice. |

I know it sounds sort of simplistic, but the three things that have helped both me and my boyfriend A LOT to retain moisture in our skin during the winter are:
(1) Buying a humidifier for our apartment and running it in our bedroom at night at between 30-50% humidity. I've tried a couple humidifiers, and my favorite one for the small apartment we have is Essick Air 821-000 Digital Control Evaporative Console Humidifier.
(2) Not taking a hot shower, but taking a medium warm or even cool shower. Obviously, this isn't for everyone , but even ending the shower with a cooler rinse makes a big difference.
(3) The obvious step of moisturizing immediately after showering, before the water has a chance to evaporate from the skin.

I get extremely dry, flakey skin during the winter. I exfoliated every other day and applied a really hydrating mask/more hydrating night cream than my usual night cream and it wasn't so bad this winter. On dry spots I applied vaseline or another balm with rice bran( also creates an occlusive barrier) instead of petroleum over the moisturizer. The phytomer gommage worked really well for exfoliation although it gets a bit messy. Has anyone tried the laura mercier gommage? |

Hi beautyrose, have you considered botanical oils? Jojoba and macadamia oils are my first layer of protection in drier months... applied right after stepping out of the shower while skin is still damp...Then followed up with rich lotions to keep moisture in. |

You want to be effective.
