Im looking for a new makeup base. I've been just using covergirl's tinted moisturizer but it leaves my skin oily. I want some that keeps my makeup looking fresh and not oily or dried by the end of the day. I just got this product called orchid gel mattefying day seal by skinn cosmetics. I love skinn products, but just wanted a second opinion. Any makeup base reviews? |

laura mercier Foundation Primer - the must have one!! works well under make up, makeup stays in place all day.
Clarins Beauty Flash Balm is a good choice too. |

I've been using Smashbox photo finish primer lately and liking it. Doesn't make your skin oily and make-up stays fresher looking. |

I've been on the look out too for a primer for my oily-acne-prone skin, that has NO CONES, and will work well with my MMU. Will any of these mentioned work well with Mineral Make-Up? I will probably apply with wet flocked sponge. |

I highly recommend CHANEL Le Blanc makeup base, it's so light and can brighten up your complexion making your foundation looking bright and fresh.
My all-time fav is Cle de peau but it's quite pricey....
Other ones that most people rave about is the Smashbox one and Make up for ever HD primers, they came in quite a few colors for color correcting. |

Try a primer! The bare escentuals oil-free primer is great if you have oilier skin - it doesn't clog your pores and leaves the skin smooth before you apply your foundation. Make sure you are using a good moisturizer underneath the primer and tinted moisturizer for a nicer finish. Skoah chiiki munki rexturizing primer is also great as a makeup base - it is super lightweight and absorbs beautifully into your skin. |

I use Smashbox primer and I think it would do very nicely for oil prone skin. It is not greasy at all! |

I don't know if you're into DIY, but I have found that a DIY pearl cream is the best makeup base I've ever used. I tried many a primer only to have them leave my face oilier than if I had used nothing. I now make my own pearl cream based on recipes posted here by other members, and it's the best base I've ever used for keeping my face from becoming oily. It's also good for your skin in other ways and you can add whatever actives you would like and the pearl powder in the cream will still keep your skin from becoming oily. Here's a thread where you can read up on it:

I do not like to use Makeup Primers on my face. I have tried many different brands and they either make my makeup more apparent looking or they leave an oily surface. I much prefer the natural look!
I think that is better to baby your face rather than smother it with silicone. Using CPs and Retin-A over the years has improved the overall condition of my skin to the point where I do not need to cover it up in order to look good.
I know, it is easy to get carried away in the makeup department, isn’t it gals? GUILTY! |
