I want to try Obagi Nu Drem but it's so expensive so I wonder if I can only use these products of the system
Clear
exfoderm
Blender
Healthy skin
And buy Retin A instead of Obagi Complex A it's way cheaper
And use a good brand of cleanser and toner
Is that ok?

Rather than buying all of these items individually, it might be less expensive just to buy the whole Nuderm kit in the beginning. I also purchased my retin a from my plastic surgeon at first too. It's just my feeling that you should try and use all the Obagi products at least for the first six weeks. That being said, I did purchase a different cleanser and toner after the Obagi products ran out.

EDS sells the kits as well as the individual products. You might check their prices.

Hi everyone, I just joined because I was looking for some additional info on the Obagi products. Currently I am only using the Retin-A cream. I have started flaking quite a bit. and I have quite a few breakouts, which I never have before. IS this normal???

reham,I found that buying the kit was cheaper also and did the same as Kims did after the cleaner and toner ran out used something else. But I got the best results with the whole kit.
SherrieC,Yes sometimes you do have a few breakout places but the retin a will clear them much faster. Your skin will look worst before it looks better, they suggest to use it for 18 weeks and after about 6 weeks you will look better but after the complete 18 you will love your new skin.HTH.

Leggy: Thanks for the reply! AT 48, its is hard to go thru acne again! Also, do you think it is ok to use a scrub (Origins) to help rid of the flakes? And what are you thoughts on moisturizers?

SherrieC, When I used the NuDerm kit I had the flakes and only used mico fiber cloth. If you shower in the morning the steam help to loosened up the flakes and with cloth very gently go over the face. Obagi does not recommend any moisturizing products while on this routine after the 18 weeks you won't really need it,except maybe in winter. If you are only using retina you can apply retina a wait an hour and use something but make sure you wait so retina can penetrate.Retina is called the gold standard for fine lines and wrinkles as alot of people on the forum will atest to.

Sherrie C,
I did the mistake of using a gentle scrub on week 2 of Obagi and got terrible "burn" marks, I would definitely not recommend it. Now I only use the microfiber cloth
