Does anyone have an idea when steri strips are supposed to fall off? I was told 5 to 7 days, but they are holding strong after two and a half weeks. |

I thought they could last for a couple of weeks, Skippie. I would check with your doc/nurse to see though. |

Thanks, Riley. I was actually hoping to avoid that. |

Skippy when I had them on my doc said they'd be there for at least a couple of weeks before they fell off. And I think it was nearly 3 weeks before they did. |

Mine stayed on for about 3 weeks and were starting to peel a little, so I took them off. The wound had scabbed over and was healing well by then. |

Thanks, Mishey and majorb. I can see that they are beginning to loosen up now from when I posted the other day. It's almost 3 weeks now. |

I must admit that I was told to leave them on until they fell off, but they were starting to smell awful. (I had to be very careful to avoid getting the wound wet as it was very difficult to stop the bleeding, so I used to just spray a tiny amount of antiseptic over and gently dab dry with a kitchen towel.) That's why I ended up removing them before they dropped off of their own accord.
How's the wound looking? Have the sides knitted together? Do you reckon it's healed well? If you're unsure, you might want to check with a nurse. |
