I do have "thick" skin but I'm quite fair so see everything anyways Sad

Something you can do (although it's not miracle!) is eat with less salt.

Actually was at the derm yesterday discussing possible laser to get rid of the veins under my eyes. Think I'm going to go ahead with it dispite costs and risks. Xx

Have you considered having them excised? Excision doesn't have major complications and it's very simple and way more effective than laser. With laser, if the vein is not thin like spider veins, you need to use higher energy. And then because the skin of the under-eye is so thin, you really run the risk of burning it.

You mean taking your veins out?
I do not think that should be done unless you have a health issue from them.

My mom had some varicose veins treated w a laser and was out of c ommision 2 weeks or so.

I also just had a surgery to repair s ome veins in my arm and that was a lot of recovery, could not do anything with my right arm for 1+ month.
You usually have a nerve block, then are awake for the surgery and your whole arm and shoulder is frozen.
Overall not a pleasant experience.

I too have veins on my forearms and 2 long streaky veins on my neck than run vertically down my jaw to the base of my neck.

Thanks to everyone who wrote. I don't feel like some sort of freak as I realize that I certainly am not alone in this and that there are guys who like this sort of thing in a woman. Gives me hope! Very Happy

I'm a road map also. Self tanner completely covers it up for me, but I'm really not interested in being golden even if that's what is in right now. Remember, pale skin with blue veins was always beautiful, its just the last 60 years of history that people have determined we aren't supposed to look like that. Thousands of years of history can't be wrong!

Great Point Ava, I personally find pale skin very ethereal and beautiful, reminds me of Victorian beauties! I love the look! Very Happy

I have the same issue. Especially on the sides of my head and temple area. When I was little, my friends and siblings nicknamed me "vein head." Laughing

However, I'm never self conscious about it. Maybe I'm so obsessed with my skin texture, aging, and hydration that I don't notice the veins? But sometimes I'm reminded when someone makes a comment. But I don't mind it so much for some reason. Smile

Yup, that's where the term "blue-blood" comes from... Once upon a time it was prestigious to have skin so pampered and protected from the sun and elements that it looked translucent like porcelain. Besides the obvious hats and parasols (and they often used both at once), aristocratic ladies used to wear masks held by a button in their mouth to protect their skin while hunting.

And fair skin is becoming stylish again, judging by the gorgeous fair skin of Scarlett Johansson and others...

I think it's more a matter of being pale, not thin-skinned. I have this issue. I was in the shower just the other night thinking how odd it was that I could see a Rand McNally of blue-green vessels throughout my arms, chest, etc. Shock

Help! I have this same problem. I see that the original post was a few years ago, but I am relieved to see others have this issue as well! (except I'm still wondering what is the best treatment?) I didn't know if it was "thin" skin, or varicose veins, or what.. I am fairly naturally tan so I know it is not a color issue. My legs look like giant green spiderwebs. I actually visited a vein center to ask if they were varicose and all he said was that I have a few minor patches of spider veins that could be treated but it wasn't something that was worth the high cost at the time. I'm only 30 years old and am sad that I can't wear shorts anymore. I am self-conscious about it and when I ask others they agree they are definitely visible and so I know I'm not imagining things, but I would like to know what supplements/vitamins/creams I can use to at least minimize it? I appreciate any help!!

I've seen kids who are really fair you can see the network of veins beneath their translucent skin and thought they were beautiful!

Really obvious spider and varicose veins in random places are a different matter altogether. It makes it seem like I have a bruise Mad

Dun fret! Just like there are people who are envious of monolids ( Rolling Eyes lol), there are people who wish they had your type of skin. And then there are those who can't stop staring in wonder at the beauty of it. It makes the person look delicate and fragile and just so precious Very Happy Use it for all it's worth!

Hi there! I don't want to burst any confidence bubbles, but having being able to see your blue veins is not a result of being pale/fair colored. I am naturally tan (I'm proud to say I've never fake tanned in any form) and I can see my veins all over but most prominently in my legs. It's so bothering! I do think it has something to do with the thickness/thinness of our skin. I'm interested in trying the detox as one other user suggested.

I disagree with some of the posters here. I DO believe it is not just a function of paleness but also skin thickness, as Kchic8005 said.

I have had friends as pale as I am whose veins do not show. I, however, look like a Rand McNally roadmap. My legs show more of my arteries - lots of red. However the undersides of my arms and my breasts - all green veins, BIG ones. Rolling Eyes On my face - BOTH! Green veins around my chin and on my forehead, but redness in my cheeks.

I never looked into doing anything about it as I never had any money to address the issue - I had more pressing financial needs for real medical issues and it just became something I tried to ignore. Somehow I managed to overcome my massive anxiety over it and date, and I ended up with a man who loves me and doesn't care about it - but unfortunately that doesn't make me feel any better about it! I'm glad he loves me for me...but I'm still working on loving me for me Wink I also try not to wear too revealing clothes because of it. I find it embarrassing and am trying to work on reducing my self-consciousness so I can just get dressed in the morning like a normal person and not have it be ego-destroying. I don't want to be tan - I'm happy being pale - I just don't want the roadmap!

One thing is for sure - I will NEVER go bare legged. Thigh highs or pantyhose for me.

I was planning on doing a detox cleanse soon anyway so when I do, I will post here about any results - or lack thereof.

Lots of hugs to the ladies on this thread who are so upset about this. I know how awful it can feel, but luckily we aren't celebrities so we aren't being scrutinized head to toe every minute of the day...except by ourselves.

They are blue and the ones that bother me are on the back of my thighs and calves. Some are also varicose. Thank you for your reply.

Hi FragileSoul,

So I don't know that much about how to treat varicose veins on the legs at home but what I do know is that there are professional treatments available which can help if not get rid of them. Have you had a look in to any of these?

Other than that it would be good to take steps to prevent them. Am sure diet, exercise and dry body brushing helps to keep them at bay.

Thank you so much Moon.

I've always been slim, which I think makes the veins more prominent, and I've also always eaten healthily and been active.

Though I did used to exercise a lot, due to my physically active job and depression I no longer have the energy to do it. I think if I had kept it up I wouldn't have as many veins now.

I also used to do dry body brushing until I read that you shouldn't do it if you have varicose veins, so I stopped.

I will look into this again as I really felt it helped with my bad circulation, so I may take it up again but just try to avoid the varicose veins.

I haven't looked into any treatments yet as I wanted to see if there was anything natural I could do first, as like bexwilky mentioned, I too suffer from Body Dysmorphic Disorder and so have put off showing my legs to anyone.

I have got to the point now though where I know I will most likely have to do this anyway. I'm just about to read an article on how Apple Cider Vinegar can help with varicose veins, so if I have any luck with it I will post my results here.

Hi. I've been reading this thread for a couple years hoping for someone to post something new that might work.
I really don't think it has to do with the paleness of your skin rather than the thinness, as I have medium colored skin and can see all the veins all over my body as well, except for mine are green. Tanning only makes them appear darker, I think. Self tanners don't do much either. My mother is the same way. Has anyone found anything that works?

I'd also like to add, I tried to have sclerotherapy done, and was denied it. Was told they were just my normal veins and there was nothing that could be done.
