Hi,
I know there are many BE specialists on here so hope you can help. I've only recently started using BE and love it but just can't get the eye liner right. It goes on fine either dry or wet and does look good but within a short time I've developed an eye-liner smudge on my upper eye lid (where the lid folds over and touches the eye liner when blinking) which looks awful. Has anyone got any suggestions to sort this - I will be VERY grateful.

Thanks in anticipation

I use BE everday, but I'm not an expert in the least. I've only had your similar problem happen to me a few times and it's usually when my eyelids are oily. Try using the multitasking bisque as an eye shadow base, which also extends the wear of your BE mineral eye shadows. Another suggestion, if you're using an eye cream...make sure you tap it in well and let it absorb for at least 10 mins before applying your makeup...this is my golden rule for moisturizer as well.

Hope this helps!!!

Cheers! Smile

I had the same problem with Smashbox creme eyeliner in both black caviar and dark green. Very disappointing!! I found that dusting on a little loose powder helped it set but also decreased the intensity. I've gone back to NARS liquid liner, it does set fast and stay put (as long as you don't rub your eyes). It's not as good as Margaret Astor pen eyeliner, but -- as far as I know -- that is only available in Germany. It's almost worth the trip, though! (If you ever see Astor, grab it, you won't regret it).
Also, the mascara makes a difference. I had awful smudging with Smashbox mascara - combined with their liner, it looked like I'd been crying for hours! Embarassed

Thanks - I'll look out for the astor eye liner but its a real pity. If posible I would like to continue to use cosmetics with a few preservatives in them as possible but only if they work!!!

I also had the same problem with smashbox mascara. If I'm honest its one of the worst mascaras I've ever used - very clumpy and even combing didn't sort it! I have used the cream eye-liner but although it didn't smudge on me it was 'bity' in application and never the simple easy 'walk the brush along the lashes' that was promised - a big disappointment for me also.

Clarins mascara is a favourite of mine as it glides on and never clumps. Also comes in violet which is brill with blue eyes.

Perhaps your best bet is to use a primer to make the liner "stick" more, use a q-tip to smudge the line a bit and also lightly set the liner with powder. You can also get a liquid that will make your eyeliner water proof (BeneFit makes one) but that's going a bit far perhaps....

I don’t use the BE eyeliner – I prefer the Smashbox cream liner, but I do use BE foundation. I have the same problem with my eye makeup and it’s because my eyelids are as oily as the rest of my face! Sad I’ve posted this tip under one of the other makeup mineral threads, but it’s my secret weapon for combating the oilies: smooth a very T-H-I-N layer of plain (unflavored) Milk of Magnesia on the problem area (in my case, I smooth it all over my face, including my eyelids!!) and wait for it to dry (typically 30-45 seconds), then apply your makeup over it. Since I’ve been using this trick, for the first time in my life my eyeliner doesn’t migrate and my eyeshadows don’t crease! I’ve tried other so-called mattifying products, but they had little effect. The MoM is the first thing I’ve ever used that actually kept my makeup in place and didn’t recall hourly blotting!

HTH,
Carrie
