Here's an update. I had about two or three weeks left to go with Obagi, but had to stop for about a week and a half due to summer vacation and outdoor activities. I was one of the peeps who had non stop redness and what looked like worst pigmentation problems. Well, since I've discontinued the regimen for this short period of time, the redness is gone and I can actually see the improvements to my skin. Yay!!
It's not completely the results I had hoped for, but I would say 50% improvement over the way it looked before. I don't have to wear that much make up anymore.
I'm trying to decide now to continue the regimen, or just start on maintenance. |

Glad to hear you have seen improvement. If your skin can tolerate it and you have no other medical conditions that warrant discontinuation, I would keep going until you achieve the results you want or until you have maxed out on the results. Once you go on maintenance, it will be harder to start back up full throttle if you cahnge your mind. |

Hello, I've heard it mentioned many times on this forum that Obagi #1-#6 are meant to work together. I'm current using #3-#6. I'm considering buying the Obagi cleanser and toner (#1,#2). Can somebody explain the role of #1 and #2 in the system? Will I see considerable differences if I use them? |

The cleanser and toner just prep your skin to the correct pH for the other products. I don't think you would see a significant difference by adding those 2 products, as most use plain witch hazel when the toner runs out. However, if you aren't getting results after 6-8 weeks, you may want to consider trying those 2 to see if it makes a difference. |

Rileygirl, thanks for all your help. I didn't know that witch hazel is an acceptable alternative to Obagi toner. Is it okay if I just use witch hazel then in place of the toner? |

Hi Acta,
That's great news about your skin improvements! You might want to continue on, like Kristy mentioned, because your skin should keep improving. Keep us posted! |

So I went to Trader Joe's to buy some witch hazel, which they didn't carry. The sales clerk told me to use tea tree oil. He claims it could also be used as a toner. Is this true? |

No, not with Obagi. I don't know anything about tea tree oil, but stick to the witch hazel (which you can get in any drug store) or the Obagi toner. |

Hi, C4ward! You add the C after the toner, before the Clear. HTH! |

hi guys im new to the forum..
I have been reading your experiences with Obagi Nu derm...just had a consultation with a skin specialist who told me about Obagi but their clinic charges £595 for the kit. I am pleased to find it on this website at a far cheaper price.
I was wondering, I'm going away on holiday in less than four weeks, is it better to leave the treatment and start it after I come back? I don't fancy walking around with flaky skin :/ I am black but very light skinned will I go red too? Is there any black/mixed race people who have used it and what results did you get?
Someone help me. I'm a broke student I need to know all the facts I can before I spend money on obagi nu dem.
thanks x |

Hi RS,
Are you talking about the skin on your face or your hands? I know that the products containing hydroquinone will stain your fingers and nails if not washed off. That's the only "yellow" that I've noticed. |

kims, on my face It goes away the next day. I used to have this when applying Retin A without the blender. It does not appear all the time, just sometimes. I'm using Blender/Retin A 2 times a week now. One of my friends noticed "Why does ur face look yellow as if you ate too much carrots?" |

I am currently on my 5th week on the Nu-Derm system and this diary has greatly helped as to what to expect in the future and how my experience lines up with other ones. Interesting how this system affects people differently, but in the end everyone seems to be pretty pleased with the results. |

Wow! I've never had that happen. Could it be the interaction of other products??? |

Hi Amanda,
This forum definitely helped me through my initial Obagi experience. Hope you're doing well through the process. Please post if questions or concerns come up for you! |

kims, could be interaction, but I'm not sure with which products, my routine ( Vit C in the morning, CPs in the evening) has not changed... |

Did you know that the blender has ascorbic acid in it? Do you use the CP at the same time as the RA/Blender? Maybe that, or is your Blender getting old? Just throwing stuff out there, as I have never had that happen either!
Contains 4% Hydroquinone in a base of water, glycerin, cetyl alcohol, PPG-2 myristyl ether propionate, sodium lauryl sulfate, TEA-salicylate, lactic acid, phenyl trimethicone, tocopheryl acetate, sodium metabisulfite, ascorbic acid, methylparaben, Complex 272 (saponins), disodium EDTA, BHT, propylparaben. |
