I don't post a whole lot on forums, but for this one I just had to share. I had read on EDS that some people use Retin A on their KP with positive results, but others did not notice an improvement. I decided to give it a try.

I started using 0.25% on my upper arms and on a section of my lower arms that has the evil bumps. I was trying to use it everyday, but sometimes forgot or didn't have time so I skipped a day here and there.

I didn't notice a whole lot of improvement and essentially gave up because the front section of my arm just above my elbows started to peel like crazy and was sooo itchy I just couldn't stand it anymore. I couldn't wear anything but long sleeve shirts because the peeling was pretty obvious. I would guess that I used it for about 2 weeks before giving up.

This was about a month ago that I gave up on it. Well, this morning while I was in the shower, I noticed how freakishly soft that part of my arms now is. To be honest, the front part is the section that has always really bothered me because it's the most obvious and I had really been concentrating the retin A on that section.

I have never EVER had soft skin here and now it is pratcially the softest skin on my entire body. I am going to go back to the retin A and continue to use it on the rest of my KP on my arms until I get to the itchy/peeling stage. I will just have to deal with that - and hopefully I will be able to get rid of it completely before it's time to break out the short sleeves in spring!

I assume that at some point the KP will start to come back, so I might start using the retin A 1-2 times a week just to see if that keeps it away.

I am just so excited because I have never seen these results from any scrub or cream I have used on my KP! I am just kicking myself for giving up on it before I saw the results because I probably wouldn't have any KP anywhere right now!

Has anyone else had impressive results with retin A on KP? If so, did it eventually come back?

That's wonderful!!! I suffer from KP too. I use a scrub in the shower and a lotion with lactic acid in it. I did read about results from retin-a too, but I too forget all the time. It is my understanding it is a forever process or it will come back. It never really goes away you just treat it.

That's great! My Retin A actually has KP listed on the info sheet as one of the conditions it treats (besides acne, etc).

For the itching and flakiness - you could try adding a copper peptide cream for that. It would nip that in the bud. EDS carries some Skin Biology CPs and the Body Lotion (a mild version) would work well. Not a great smell, but can help you get over the hump of the itching and flakiness. They have other creams that have higher % of CPs in them that also might be nice. Skin Biology or NCN Skincare are other places to buy CPs.

This is interesting, I have read that retin-a can control KP, but never tried it myself. I accidentally purchased .025% retin-a gel and the tube is huge, so I have been trying it on my upper arms. I will report any results soon.

This is interesting! So happy you found something that works for you!

I've used 30% glycolic acid on my body (swiped with a cotton pad) for a few mins about one or two times a week before hopping into the shower and it's helped somewhat!

I am very happy to read this as my KP got out of control during a recent illness and I'm not making any headway with it.
I don't have Retin-A though, but I am going to try an OTC retinol like PTRoth's.

Before I got sick, using a scrub and shea butter was enough to keep my skin clear, but now the scrub just seems to make the KP worse.

Thank you for posting this!!!!
