sweetsweettart,
Are you planning to make it yourself or are you buying something already made? The reason I ask is because I think it would depend on the base you use if you're DIY'ing. I make my own and I don't want it to be especially moisturizing as I use it as a primer under my foundation and I have combo skin. If I want something to moisturize (in the winter for example), I put something on under the pearl cream. I will say that I don't think that my pearl cream is drying, though, even if I'm not using anything under it. |

Skippie,
Where have you found the best quality for the price on the pearl powder?
TIA

I am planning on just making it with some water or aloe juice or something and then applying fresh to the face.
I guess I can add a little moisturizer in it or on top of it after it sinks in. But I was just curious if the raw properties of pearl had any moisturizing abilities, since it seems to have so many other benefits. |

I haven't ordered from tkb but may do so in the future. JJ recommends it.
DM, I've bought pearl powder from Garden of Wisdom. I think it was the ultrafine. They actually have some they say is coarser so I'm not sure how it would work. I've also used pearl powder from NCN Skincare. I bought it to take internally and then decided to use it in my cream instead. It works just fine but is pricey. I wouldn't ordinarily use it in the cream but I just happened to need some because my GOW pearl powder was a solid lump when I went to use it. Let me know if you want some and next time I order, I'll share it with you. There's always too much for me. |

Thanks Skippie!
That sounds like a plan for splitting some of what we buy, I have bought things that are just hard too use fast enough!

don't know if it's that moisturizing but it's the best thing ever for spots.I learned this from my acupuncturist years ago- It's been my little trick!Mixed with a tiny bit of water to make a paste and put on spots overnight or whenever to heal the blemish/sores much faster. You do have a little white paste on your face but who cares
Pearl powder has excellent skin healing properties! I just buy it in the little vials and it lasts forever.. |

Can pearl powder from GoW be taken internally as well? You're right, Nanci, pwder is a bit expensive, I think you can find cheaper in Chinatown. |

this might help I'd say on it's own it's more of a skin healer than a moisturizer(as I mentioned it's great for spot-healing blemishes) but can be added to a cream.

Pearl Powder, Zhenzhu fen, is a natural source of calcium.
Pearl powder has been used in traditional Chinese medicine to soothe inflamed tissues, promote union by detoxification, calm the liver, clear away liver-fire, tranquilize the mind, brighten the eyes, alleviate spasms and tremors.
It is applied topically to ease inflammation and promote healing. It also can be used for redness and irritation of the skin in conditions like nappy rash, moist eczema, and other wet skin conditions. Can be mixed with an emollient for dry or flay skin conditions. Also applied to minor open wounds to accelerate healing. Especially good for chronic non-healing ulcers and sores.
Used internally for shen disturbances and tremors or spasms from internal wind. Particularly good for easy fright, fearfulness, anxiety and palpitations and insomnia. For visual weakness, inflammation of the eyes or growths over the eye.
Regular exercise and a healthy diet with enough calcium helps teen and young adult, white and Asian women maintain good bone health and may reduce their high risk of osteoporosis later in life. Adequate calcium intake is important, but daily intakes above about 2,000 mg are not likely to provide any additional benefit. Administrating pear powder will benefit to the bone, skin, and nervous system.* |

RussianSunshine, I probably didn't take it long enough internally to see any benefits, but truthfully, I felt I couldn't justify the expense since I wasn't seeing any benefits. The amount was very small for the big price that went with it. I'm not sure whether the GOW pearl powder is high quality enough to take internally. I know they don't say anything about that. I'm sure you could ask them. They have wonderful customer service. |
